BOSTON (CBS) An easy method of family planning, with no big surgery or pills to remember, is becoming a concern for a growing number of women. They say Essure, tiny coils implanted in the fallopian tubes, are causing horrific side effects.
Basically every single day it felt like my ovaries were getting stabbed, said Jessica LaVallie of Palmer.
Kendra Kilroy of Quincy said she had severe pains that were debilitating, and Marie Larsen of Holliston said she suffered with back pain, hip pain, and memory loss.
Melanie Goshgarian of Burlington now believes she suffers from an allergy to nickel as a result of Essure.
Kilroy described how her declining health impacted her quality of life. I missed out on a lot with my kids. You know field trips. I remember my daughter crying. It was her birthday, and her very first field trip, and I couldnt go. I was just so sick.
After an Essure coil is inserted in the fallopian tube, tissue grows around the coil and seals it to prevent pregnancy.
The procedure results in permanent sterilization and is simple to do. It takes a matter of minutes and is performed in a doctors office.

It sounds like it’s not so “easy” after all.
Mrs.Don-o, I am too overwhelmed/busy to do the ping lists for some time. Do you know anyone who would like to do any pinging, or would you like to?
Freepmail me if you are interested.
I’ve been thinking about you.
Try it this way.
Everyone agrees that binging and purging is wrong. But few people could articulate the reason.
The reason is because the primary purpose of eating is nutrition. A concomitant aspect of eating is pleasure.
When a person eats a delicious meal, and then induces vomiting, so he can eat more good tasting food, he is elevating pleasure over the primary purpose of eating.
Not surprisingly, this practice can relate in ill health.
This is a perfect analogy to artificial means of induced sterility.
People who use artificial means of induced sterility, whether temporary or permanent, are elevating the pleasurable aspects of intercourse over the primary purpose of the act.
Besides risking one's health, this practice is associated with many other social ills, such as disregard for the well-being of the woman, that were outlined many decades ago.
Let them first consider how easily this course of action could open wide the way for marital infidelity and a general lowering of moral standards. Not much experience is needed to be fully aware of human weakness and to understand that human beingsand especially the young, who are so exposed to temptationneed incentives to keep the moral law, and it is an evil thing to make it easy for them to break that law. Another effect that gives cause for alarm is that a man who grows accustomed to the use of contraceptive methods may forget the reverence due to a woman, and, disregarding her physical and emotional equilibrium, reduce her to being a mere instrument for the satisfaction of his own desires, no longer considering her as his partner whom he should surround with care and affection. Finally, careful consideration should be given to the danger of this power passing into the hands of those public authorities who care little for the precepts of the moral law. Who will blame a government which in its attempt to resolve the problems affecting an entire country resorts to the same measures as are regarded as lawful by married people in the solution of a particular family difficulty? Who will prevent public authorities from favoring those contraceptive methods which they consider more effective?

God seems to think otherwise if the teachings of Christianity matter to anyone.
You mean if the teachings of Catholicism matter to anyone.
All of Christianity was opposed to contraception until 1930. That is when the traditions of men became more important than the word of God.
Agreed
all forms of contraception. Including condoms are evil
If you have to put a plastic bag over yourself. You shouldn’t be having sex
And the pill? Hormones). IUDs. Totally evil and harmful
Ok. Nuff sed
behave yourself!
the teachings of Catholicism mean everything to everyone.
Christians who don't believe the teachings of Catholicism are denying, at least partially, the teachings of Christ.
Catholicism is the fullness of Christianity....the denominations are, while not wrong,, are incomplete....deny ANY part of Catholicism and you deny part of Christianity.
No they are not. Catholicism has a lot of unnecessary additives.
The Catholic, Orthodox and some other religions were opposed, but that's a far cry from all of Christianity being opposed.
God's word never implies that the possibility of childbearing is the only thing that legitimizes sexual relations between husband and wife.
Obviously, all contraception is not moral. I agree that any methods that are abortive are immoral.
I applaud your faith, but urge you not to harshly judge those who view some things differently than you. We have one judge. See Romans chapter 14.
CASTI CONNUBII
ENCYCLICAL OF POPE PIUS XI
ON CHRISTIAN MARRIAGE
TO THE VENERABLE BRETHREN, PATRIARCHS,
PRIMATES, ARCHBISHOPS, BISHOPS, AND OTHER LOCAL ORDINARIES
ENJOYING PEACE AND COMMUNION WITH THE APOSTOLIC SEE.
And now, Venerable Brethren, we shall explain in detail the evils opposed to each of the benefits of matrimony. First consideration is due to the offspring, which many have the boldness to call the disagreeable burden of matrimony and which they say is to be carefully avoided by married people not through virtuous continence (which Christian law permits in matrimony when both parties consent) but by frustrating the marriage act. Some justify this criminal abuse on the ground that they are weary of children and wish to gratify their desires without their consequent burden. Others say that they cannot on the one hand remain continent nor on the other can they have children because of the difficulties whether on the part of the mother or on the part of family circumstances.
54. But no reason, however grave, may be put forward by which anything intrinsically against nature may become conformable to nature and morally good. Since, therefore, the conjugal act is destined primarily by nature for the begetting of children, those who in exercising it deliberately frustrate its natural power and purpose sin against nature and commit a deed which is shameful and intrinsically vicious.
55. Small wonder, therefore, if Holy Writ bears witness that the Divine Majesty regards with greatest detestation this horrible crime and at times has punished it with death. As St. Augustine notes, “Intercourse even with one’s legitimate wife is unlawful and wicked where the conception of the offspring is prevented. Onan, the son of Juda, did this and the Lord killed him for it.”[45]
Ok then. What about this? Is the church willing too carry this passage out to it's fullest by ordering a single man including a Priest to marry his deceased brothers widow? The man died because he specifically refused to do what GOD told him to do which was marry and make pregnant his brothers widowed wife who did not have a male child. It was under the Law of Moses. No church today follows that law not even the RCC as far as I know. Laws we could not endure and for such we were sent a Savior. Think about it.
How many Catholic males and females in here would carry that out should their spouses childless sibling die. BTW the so called natural methods do nothing but avoid pregnancy. It is simply another method of birth control. Nothing more nothing less.
Do I believe in birth control? Yes. As long as it is a safe method not placing a woman in medical danger. The article in question seems to indicate there is a sizable risk.
Also it simply is not medically wise for some woman to get pregnant to start with because it can kill her and the maybe likely not make it to term. The safest thing to do IMO? Man up and see Dr Snip. But the verse from which birth control prohibition came from in some churches has had it's context twisted to the point of manipulation of the masses. If GOD tells you marry your brothers widow and have a child then do it. That was the lesson.
“You mean if the teachings of Catholicism matter to anyone.”
No. All Protestant denominations opposed birth control until the 1930s. Most Protestants are completely unaware of that fact. I always recommend that Protestants read the book (written by a Lutheran if I recall correctly) called The Bible and Birth Control by Charles Provan. Most Protestants have no clue that ALL Christian groups condemned birth control under all circumstances until only 80 years ago. http://www.amazon.com/Bible-Birth-Control-Charles-Provan/dp/9991799834
Would you please name any denomination that said contraception was not sinful prior to 1930? Any?
A supposed fact was stated but not backed up.
I’m happy for you that you have the “real” history of every Christian denomination on earth prior to 1930.
All sarcastic comments aside, my point is that while most Christian denominations thought that contraception was wrong, it is a very bold statement to say that ALL thought so, and it is more than likely unprovable.
How 'bout that. Just got those wmoen sterilized, shut your eyes to any consequences, no lawsuits no matter what.
I suppose if the woman dies, to the population controllers that's not a glitch, it's a feture.
You're way, WAY sterile when you're dead.
That’s why I use the ‘catholic’ method. Don’t want more kids so just PULL out at the last second.
Works for me but no wonder most Catholic families have 10 kids ;)
Especially when she is gorgeous and you’re always ready
It’s all about control for us males. That’s it.
If men can control themselves. The world will be a better place
