Steve Schmidt: GOP plan for Ted Cruz? Canada
politico.com ^ | November 01, 2013 | TAL KOPAN

Discussing video of Sen. Ted Cruz’s father telling a crowd he wants to send President Barack Obama “back to Kenya,” former John McCain adviser Steve Schmidt says the GOP has some ideas about where the Texas senator can go.

“A lot of Republicans I think tonight look at Ted Cruz and wish Ted Cruz would go back to Canada,” Schmidt said Thursday night on MSNBC’s “Last Word.”

Schmidt was referencing the fact that Texas Republican was born in Canada, though experts say his American mother still makes him a natural citizen if he were to run for president.

The Republican strategist said the party knows it needs to reach minority voters, and that Cruz continues to lead them off message and drive down their popularity.

“At a time when Republicans have opportunities to really define the policy deficiencies, I would argue in Obamacare, we’re once again talking about distractions caused by Ted Cruz tonight,” Schmidt said. “We’re following ideologues down a policy path that will ultimately lead to the destruction of the Republican Party’s ability to compete as a national party.

Sounds like a subtle threat to me. The GOP-e has a plan for Cruz and they will make NBC an issue.

They want to reach minorities yet slander the Hispanic Cruz.

God, forgive me for voting for McCain instead of trusting in You.

Considering the enemies are campaigning against Ted Cruz every day as if he’s already running, I think we should start his presidential campaign early too. We really should organize some grass-roots public relations efforts to get positive messages about him out there. This would also help in the primary where last time we had a problem with conservatives not rallying behind one choice early enough. We should start promoting Cruz way ahead of time to get him a head start.

OK fine then, we dump the Hispanic Cruz guy from Texas, and beg Willard Mitt Romney to come back for a second effort to woo the minorities that Willard is so famous for attracting.

You make an excellent point about Steve Schmidt being a loser. What has he actually accomplished for the GOP? Where’s his list of victories?

According to Wikipedia...

In 1995, Steve Schmidt managed the unsuccessful campaign for Kentucky Attorney General of Will T. Scott.

In 1998, Schmidt ran California State Senator Tim Leslie’s unsuccessful race for Lt. Governor of California.

In 1998, he was the Communications Director for California State Treasurer Matt Fong’s unsuccessful campaign to unseat U.S. Senator Barbara Boxer.

In 1999, he was the Communications Director for Lamar Alexander’s (unsuccessful) presidential run.

In 2004, he was a member of the senior strategic planning group, led by White House adviser Karl Rove, that ran President George W. Bush’s re-election campaign. (A win, but that’s not usually difficult for an incumbent president)

In 2006, Schmidt left the White House to become the campaign manager in the re-election campaign for California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. (Another win...for an incumbent, very RINO governor)

In 2008, he ran McCain’s losing campaign for president (and did everything possible to destroy Sarah Palin)

He is currently a political analyst for MSNBC (yep, that alone tells me all I need to know about the man!)

Methinks he’s way overpaid if he’s paid at all.

I am a little surprised this scumbag - - this loser - - Schmidt is still masquerading as a "Republican", but it is certainly no surprise he's a staple on the Democrat channel.

Steve Schmidt needs to move to Naco, AZ to personally welcome his new voters daily.

Well, one thing Steve Schmidt is ready to go to the mat for is homosexual marriage. He has no problem being an ideologue for that. He’s for immigration amnesty, too. Again, he’s got no problem being an ideologue for THAT.

And the GOPe wonders why we despise them. Maybe it has something to do with them being largely indistinguishable from Democrats, and Steve Schmidt is typical. His political advice? Surrender!

"Cruz is now the head leader of the conservative movement."

McConnell needs to be put down (politically) by any means necessary.

Isn't this clown the liberal 'RAT crybaby who told Juan he would quit his campaign if Juan called Barry a "gunky" again during the campaign?

Both him and Nicole Wallace are so far off so often that they seem like genuine stealth Democrat plants. They have got to be as close to being Democrats as anyone I’ve ever heard of. Although our actual elected GOP elites probably feel the same way, they just keep it quieter most of the time.

Birds of a feather...

At least we know who our enemies are. The Democrats are a given, but our enemies in the GOPe don’t bother to hide it much these days either. That’s actually a good thing. It’s certainly better than them working behind the scenes to thwart pretty much anything we hold dear.

Maybe Steve Schmidt is right. I’ll grant him that. Maybe we conservatives are so badly outnumbered that we no longer have a chance of winning with a small government platform. Still, I’d rather go down fighting, and who knows? Maybe we conservatives aren’t as rare as Steve thinks.
