The shooter certainly seemed to be targeting TSA. Perhaps his mother was handily frisked by TSA, or TSA laughed at his gonads when he was scanned by the strip-search machine.

Los Angeles Times first reported he was TSA. Fox reported he was TSA from multiple sources and I believe they said some sources were other TSA employees. Katherine Herridge originally said government sources said he was TSA.

ABC News: Eyewitness named Leon Saryan said he was going through security when the shooter walked up. Perp shot the TSA agent who was holding the witness' shoes. Shooter turned to Saryan and asked, "Are you TSA?" Saryan shook his head, "No!" and the shooter moved on.

UPDATE 4:08 PM: More from NBC on “Paul Anthony Ciancia”: “The gunman, identified by law-enforcement officials as 23-year-old Paul Anthony Ciancia, was shot by law enforcement and taken into custody in critical condition. They believe he had anti-government views based on the material he was carrying, the officials said.” Multiple outlets are reporting that one TSA agent has been confirmed dead.
