Obamacare: More than 2 million people getting booted from existing health insurance plans
CBS News ^ | October 29, 2013 | by Jan Crawford

CBS News has learned more than two million Americans have been told they cannot renew their current insurance policies -- more than triple the number of people said to be buying insurance under the new Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.

There have been estimates about hundreds of thousands of people losing coverage, CBS News' Jan Crawford reported on "CBS This Morning." CBS News has reached out to insurance companies across the country to determine some of the real numbers -- and this is just the tip of the iceberg, Crawford said. The people who are opening the letters are shocked to learn they can't keep their insurance policies despite President Obama's assurances to the contrary.

The White House is on the defensive trying to explain it, after Mr. Obama repeatedly said, "If you like your doctor or health care plan, you can keep it."

Yes, but cheer up. You get a no cost to you phone once you hit the bottom of the elevator shaft.

The Democrats get control, and you get the shaft.

I’m wondering where all the media Obamaphiles are, the ones who would normally crawl up Obama’s butt, and spin this turd.

As for the people who are shocked to be losing their insurance, did they really think fascism with Obama’s smiley face would be anything less than Hitleresque? If they thought private insurance companies were expensive, wait until they get a load of what government insurance will cost them.

CBS is one of the few MSM sites actually covering this. For NBC still, it doesn’t exist. Forget about CNN - they are sold to the devil, body and soul. They are covering it under the “some people MAY be losing their plans but if they only open their eyes and see the light they will see we are forcing them to take SO much better, the idiots!”.

My guess is somebody who makes decisions at CBS actually had family get wrecked by this vicious law.

One thing crossed my mind this morning. These folks being impacted now are ones with individual policies, i.e. those that don’t have policies through employers. This issue has come to light due to the “Individual Mandate” in place for this year. Are we going to see something similar, but on steroids next year when the “Employer Mandate” is enforced and all of those policies are required to meet O’s minimum standards?

Excellent point!

The problem is, they still have American expectations of health care. What they don’t realize is that Europeans who sing the praises of their “free” health care actually get so much less than we do and don’t know what good health care is.

I was watching a Dr Who episode - “Blink” - it’s really quite a good one - and noted, as very few American libs do, that the man in the episode is in a “ward”. The new hospital just by my house here in America has all private rooms. Libs will probably say something to the effect of, “If it means healthcare for everyone I’d be Happy to share a room with a bunch of strangers!”

But when it comes down to it they will be enraged once really subjected to NHS style medicine. They won’t be able to correlate their American expectations with the actual substandard care socialist regulated rationing really delivers. Unfortunately they are dragging ME along for their ill-conceived and disastrous ride.

Just in time to build up steam and affect the midterm elections. They think the Government shut-down will cause the GOP seats in the mid-terms. Baloney! Just wait until millions lose their present coverage and have their premiums increase. They can only blame and punish the Democrats. Oh yeah!

You better believe it and I’m just waiting until next year to see what my company does. Keep our insurer as-is but with increased deductions for each employee’s plan or simply drop the insurance and give each employee a cash payout to go purchase on their own. I’d personally prefer that latter-pocket it and pay the fine at the end of the year.

I don’t know if it will be economically viable to work in a year’s time if the prices jump a whole lot.

Methinks some of these leftist media talking heads got personally scrooged themselves on health insurance and that’s why they even address it.

half the people getting the letters will pay more -- and half will pay less, thanks to taxpayer subsidies

Not so.

Even those who will receive subsidies have to pay much higher deductibles.

So overall they will be paying more too.

This could be the silver lining in all this.

If employers start giving employees the cash to buy for themselves we may finally be heading toward what has always been the answer to the health crisis all along...consumer driven health care.

What everyone now has to do is ask, if they lied to us about this, what is it to say that anything else they tell us is going to be the truth?

Credibility is gone. There is no more excuses. This was Obamas legacy and he had to lie to us.

As my so would say, Obama is doneskies.
