Some of them are long time members, must just be too invested in the crazy nonsense to let it go.

That's a point I made with Lakeshark a few weeks/months ago. They're not all trolls. Some of them are good conservatives with good intentions. What they fail to realize though is that they want three words of the Constitution to be honored and enforced while the rest of the Constitution gets destroyed.

Ted Cruz will defend the whole Constitution and attempt to prevent its destruction. Which is more important to our FRiends? Saving the whole Constitution or enforcing three words at the expense of the rest of it?

Well said, and you're right, I know some great birther conservatives. Most of those that aren't too Pharisaical about this issue understand what you said, particularly about Cruz. They are willing to understand that the framers would likely really approve of Cruz and have disdain for 100% of the democrat candidates (and many R's) who pass the "both parents have to be citizens and the kid has to be born in the US" test (how in the world is Hillary better than Cruz?). More important, they wanted someone who wasn't entangled with another philososphical basis (like Hillary or zero), they wanted someone who would try to further the entire constitution, further the dream of America as founded, allowing the pursuit of happiness to flourish as it was intended.

Right now, there are few who would do that as well as Cruz. If he runs, I'm going to support him.

They want their ridiculous and universally rejected interpretation of those words honored.
