Dependency: "Is Welfare The New Normal?" we wondered in an editorial last Thursday, and we didn't have long to wait for an answer. On Friday an answer came back in depressing new data from the Census Bureau.

CNSNews.com's indefatigable data hound, Terence P. Jeffrey, dug into a few routine Census releases recently and discovered something shocking: More people in America today are on welfare than have full-time jobs.

“The GOP doesn’t care about American jobs, because they’re subsidizing China’s explosive growth”

Why would the GOP care about China’s explosive growth? We don’t even like what China represents or rather uses to represent ideologically.

China, India, and Mexico are getting our jobs because like it or not they can and do work for a lot less This is a combination of drastically lower standards of living and other Government imposed regulatory standards.

We have minimum wages, high costs of housing, food, and of course welfare which makes work only beneficial if we can earn enough extra money.

“Bring back American jobs. To America.”

The only way do that is to make American workers competitive, or to raise the cost of imports while we still have enough money of our own to pay for much more expensive American made products.

Of course down the line we could go a long way towards making our own goods & services more competitive if we, killed the income tax, and instead went to a sales tax that effected every product regardless of where it was made.

Destroying our regulatory state would also go a long way, towards making Goods & services more cost effective to make here. It really isent as hard as you think it is as demonstrated by the fact that so many northern manufactures are moving south rather than overseas.

Just the State imposed burdens such as unionization, and State taxes & regulations when avoided can keep us afloat. Shipping isn’t free after all, in reality its it’s own form of natural tariff.

Repeating that statement for effect.

The GOP needs to work for American businesses.

Now.

I agree; we have a self-perpetuating “government class” that is paid by the taxpayers to either work or not work, and they are strong enough to continue voting themselves increasing shares of taxpayers’ incomes. Here in NJ (and probably throughout the northeast, as well as CA) that mentality has driven away our best & brightest companies & talent. It has reached a point where the welfare/workfare mechanics has to be nationalized by the Dems to entitle the NJ & CA “government class” to incomes of people in TX and NE; hence we have Medicare’s prescription drug plan, ObamaCare, etc.

“so who’s the stupid ones?...who are the foolish?....if you always thought that hard work, showing up for work, giving it your best, paying taxes on top of it, then you and I are the stupidest and most foolish around...
we’ve put up with it and so here we are...”

As stupid as we may be, the gubmint knows it will work as long as it keeps motivated people out of the welfare reservations (that is the carrot they dangle). If working your tail off left you in an apartment that was part of a welfare hive filled with low-IQ primates, then everybody would be on the dole. Whenever I see a news story of Obama voters dying in some ghetto shooting or tenement fire, I remind myself that they are there because they (or their parents) opted for that.

This morning I heard a news story about three children dying in an apartment fire in the Bronx; their mother and 2 other children got out. They hadn’t paid their utilities (so they were shut off), and were using candles to light the apartment. The children didn’t deserve to die, but the parents deserved to lose them because they opted to spend our money given to them for their 5 kids on something other than electricity.

God help those children, growing up then dying in those conditions; God damn those parents.

“We need to make things in America.

We need to stop importing everything, and we need to balance our trade.”

.........................

...they are slogans.

Solutions to achieve your slogans include:

Reducing the crushing burden of government laws and regulations. Preferably by half.
Reducing the size of government and its authority. Preferably by half.
Take away the unfettered rule making authority of agencies.
Reducing tax rates on businesses.
Obviously get rid of the Obamacare requirements.

Most importantly, SPAY OR NEUTER ALL ATTORNEYS so they cannot reproduce and implement loser pays laws on lawsuits.

"Welfare, Not Full-Time Work, Is Now America's No. 1 Occupation"

Or Part-time Work, "Not Full-Time Work, Is Now America's No. 1 Occupation" Interesting. The new useless eaters, and the political class is demanding their extermination (leaves more government pork for the socialist political folks).

It will be popcorn time, when the bipartisan, socialist hogs of big government incomes (including local governments) are laid off permanently. It will be more entertaining than the show put on by their comrades in Greece.

Have fun. Enjoy the slide.

Actually I am; what is your point? They deliberately undercut American wages by simply importing surplus wages, and if they can’t do that, the work is ismply sent to countries with human rights records we would never tolerate here.

I think when we settled on the idea of allowing US jobs in the 1980/1990 period to go out of the country...we started a trend. Drive around southern towns (not urban areas) and look at industrial buildings that were built in the 1970s and 1980s. Half of them are shut down. If they are open...they are mostly on stagnant wage situations for a decade now.

The Fed? They added to the mess by setting the prime rate at such a goofy low point. Banks are generally in a failed point but survive because of the low prime. My dad talks of the great days when his CD accounts all paid five to six percent (not seen in fifteen years).

The real estate market in most states is stagnant. Overpriced homes bought in the 1990s....today thirty percent below the original price. No one is happy....most complain continually of the market.

The government is now believed by many to be the Jesus-figure that they’ve been waiting for....prepared to fix all problem, and always with a mythical solution of sorts.

The only weapon at our side? Eternal American optimism. Two hundred years of this stuff, and we still have it in abundance. The problem is that we are waiting for something to occur to make us feel positive that the good times will return. We’ve been waiting for a minimum of fifteen years....and yet to see this big moment.

any type of welfare should mean no voting rights!

Voting while on welfare is a conflict of interest.

The goal of the left is to make this happen even more. When the working, honest producers say “enough” the leftists will go for their ultimate goal: a complete takeover of the US economy. (That will equal communism, although the people with their heads up their anal cavity won’t know it.)
