And these middle Americans just happened to be in
Washinton for the day?
I’m sure the free flight, hotel, and food had nothing
to do with it.
It should be interesting in the future to see what
plans these examples end up with.
Something to keep track of.
Ignoring the muslim outreach, it was pathetic. I would have been impressed if he filled a stadium. his is Obama’s signature achievement, and he could only get a handful of people?
Yeah, he has a habit of that.
I guess. I’m sure if I was in DC, I’d have been invited to the White House. Just keep the kiddies out.
I thought “the fainting lady” skit was a little over the top. Phony as he!!. Hollywood will probably still give him an Oscar for it though.
I’ve read that too, so maybe, along with Amish, Mennonites and some other religious groups and Native Americans they can object on religious grounds. I have read that Muslims might not be one of the exempt groups, but no matter there are exempt groups. Which IMO means Catholics should be exempt on birth control, along with Evangelicals and observant Jews based on abortion. Else the government is establishing separate laws for selective religions.
The standards relates to religions opposed to accepting benefits, and usually centers those whose members are exempt from paying social security tax, when self employed. Muslims don’t usually meet that test, but I suspect it’s open to interpretation. Wonder who Eric Holder will side with?
that is also what I heard
If we had a Christian president he/she might have several Christians on the stage with him or her. Same kind of thing.
I agree. But if legit, who puts a pregnant diabetic under the lights.
See 11 and 12.
That’s exactly what it is — Obama’s signature achievement can be measured by a mere handful and no more.
It wasn’t very bright, was it? I only saw a very short clip of Barry flapping his lips when I came home for lunch. About 15 seconds. She had the old “deer in the headlights” look on her mug then. I was wondering what was up with her. I didn’t learn about the “fainting lady” incident until later. I think Barry should maybe invest in some breath mints. A lot of people, mostly men, faint at his speeches.
Muslims Exempt from ObamaCare? A relevant excerpt, the court's will likely have to decide, though Eric Holder might decide for them. Other than the government, I'm not sure who would be successful challenging the exemption.
Where do American Muslims stand regarding the individual mandates religious exemption? Under a strict interpretation of the Koran, which forbids acceptance of public or private insurance, they are exempt under this loophole. However, since the great majority of American Muslims pay Social Security taxes and receive Social Security benefits, they dont qualify for the religious exemption. Nevertheless, PPACA rules offer a situation where American Muslims could qualify for the religious exemption. If an individual is a member of a health-sharing ministry,a religious non-profit organization in which members contribute money to cover the medical expenses of those in needthey are exempt from the requirement to purchase insurance.Health sharing ministries exemplify the Muslim principle of Takaful individuals cooperating and protecting one another against loss or damage. This writer knows of no such health sharing ministry organizations in the U.S. at present. However, as of December 2008, Risk Specialists Companies, Inc., a subsidiary of AIG Commercial Insurance, has offered Lexington Takaful Solutions SM Takaful homeowners insurance, which includes health insurance. This is part of a series of Shariah-compliant insurance products in the U.S. The Takaful homeowners policy is underwritten by RSC member company A.I. Risk Specialists Insurance, Inc., in conjunction with Lexington Insurance Company, and is available in all 50 states. However, why was this provisionthat members of health sharing ministries qualify for the religious exemptionput in H.R. 3590 in the first place? What happens when American Muslims, who participate in the Social Security system, join a health-sharing ministry?
Three if you count him. ;-)
