Weve had plenty of evidence that the Healthcare.gov website issues go well beyond coding problems on the front end, where Americans create accounts before gaining access to the actual insurance-plan marketplace. The New York Times reports today that the marketplaces themselves are just as buggy and that it might take weeks or months to get all the issues fixed:
Federal contractors have identified most of the main problems crippling President Obamas online health insurance marketplace, but the administration has been slow to issue orders for fixing those flaws, and some contractors worry that the system may be weeks away from operating smoothly, people close to the project say.
Administration officials approached the contractors last week to see if they could perform the necessary repairs and reboot the system by Nov. 1. However, that goal struck many contractors as unrealistic, at least for major components of the system. Some specialists working on the project said the online system required such extensive repairs that it might not operate smoothly until after the Dec. 15 deadline for people to sign up for coverage starting in January, although that view is not universally shared.
The scope of the problem is massive:
In interviews, experts said the technological problems of the site went far beyond the roadblocks to creating accounts that continue to prevent legions of users from even registering. Indeed, several said, the login problems, though vexing to consumers, may be the easiest to solve. One specialist said that as many as five million lines of software code may need to be rewritten before the Web site runs properly.
The account creation and registration problems are masking the problems that will happen later, said one person involved in the repair effort.

NYT: ObamaCare website only the tip of the iceberg of disaster ( October 21, 2013)
Obama says 'nothing to worry about. He has assumed control to save the day'
If Obama had to delay the personal mandate over this those House Republicans would come out lookin pretty sharp, even outside of talk radio(aka the choir).
Some sunshine might break through.
Expecting momentarily: “Wouldn’t it just be easier to have a single-payer system?” “... as long as we have to re-write 5,000,000 lines of code. Would make things so much easier and less costly”
**************************************************************
****************************************************
And the shutdown was not nearly long enough to wrtie the original 5 nillion lines of code.
These problems are just the beginning; only scratching the surface. The complexity of Obamacare is simply overwhelming. There are literally thousands of pages of requirements and laws, many of which have ramifications that nobody knows how to address. The real horrors will begin when the security failures start to emerge.
Anyone familiar with John Gall’s work on systems (and his book Systemantics, or the Systems Bible) knew this was going to be the mother of all IT disasters, not to mention the many other “complications” with Obamacare.
For those who are interested Gall famously stated:
“A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked. A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work. You have to start over with a working simple system.” He will be proven right — again.
It's not the website or the marketplaces.
The law itself is what's "buggy."
It doesn't work. It never worked.

That is what I expect to hear.
Even better, McCain, the minimcains, McConnell etc and every RINO who insulted Cruz would become unelectable pond scum. They wouldn't even stop a program even Democrats don't like!
Might that be because the elitist powerbrokers have figured out ways to profit from this disaster?
People will suffer trying to sign up--he likes to see people suffer as his actions during the shutdown made clear.
People who can't register will have to pay a fine--maybe he can balance the budget that way.
The media will convince the public that the Tea Party is to blame for the problems.
Any computer is billions or trillions of switches that can be either on or off. Those are the only options. If your system cannot decide if a switch should be on or off, adding more switches will not help it decide.
Pretty much a good description of the Obamacare target group.
The shutdown didnt stop Obamacare as it was exempt from it. It stayed running all through it.
Now if Obamacare was defunded then or even better now that would have sent a clear message.
In the end the House gave it up as expected.
It is the enrollment and compliance website that doesn't work and has never worked for a helathcare takeover that doesn't work and will never work, sold to service a constituancy that doesn't work and has never worked to pay for their own healthcare.
How's that?
There’s another big consideration as well: Federal contracting law.
Republicans, if they were smart, would shift to questioning whether Federal contracting law and the FAR are being followed in trying to fix this disaster. My bet us that they aren’t, and the Administration is actively ignoring, bypassing and breaking the law in a desperate attempt to get this mess fixed.
I’m sure once the website is fixed, the rest will go swimmingly. Everybody knows the intitial website is by far the most difficult part of running a couple trillion dollar fast paced multi-layered complex healthcare law frought with deadlines, penlaties, tied to the IRS, real time payments and integration with hundreds of millions of people, payors, healthcare contractors, rules, regulations, individual cases and infrastructure deterioration.
Yes. Swimmingly, I’m certain. What could possibly go wrong?
Shouldn’t someone hold accountable the “consultants” group who came up with this trash? Demanding a refund of all monies for a start...then prison.
that sounds right to me
Or just show your union card and the doc will see you. Not a “brother” yet. Better get organizing. Guess that’s legal now after the Roberts decision. Oh yeah your kids have to sign up for “new family-definition choices” camp.
To add: the threat of a major Congressional investigation into whether the FAR and other regs is being followed, now, as attempts are made to fix the system is going to have a HUGE impact as the contractors and government career Contracting Officers suddenly start following the letter of the law in spite of what their political overseers order them to do.
And President 404’s statement that the best and brightest are being parachuted in to help out just SCREAMS violation of security clearance and other onboarding requirements for getting someone EOD’d.
