We know that premiums are going up due to ObamaCareAmericans are getting notices in their mailboxes every day. On Wednesday, Drew Gonshorowski of the Center for Data Analysis at the Heritage Foundation published research that shows exchange premiums are going up in all but five states. In North Carolina, for example, many consumers will find their premiums almost double when shopping on the government exchanges. The hardest-hit states, such as Georgia, Arizona, Vermont and North Dakota, will see premium increases of up to 150%.
Mr. Gonshorowski's research shows that the hardest hit by the increases will be young adults. "A state that exhibits this clearly is Vermont," he writes, "where the increase for 27-year-olds is 144 percent and the increase for 50-year-olds is still 60 percent, but far less. All states exhibit this relationship."
We also know that, once established, the cost of ObamaCare's new entitlements will not fall. Historical evidence suggests the opposite. Nearly 50 years ago, at the time of Medicare's enactment, it was projected that the federal government would spend $9 billion on Part A hospital services in 1990. Actual spending in that year totaled $67 billionan increase of 644% compared with initial estimates.
Likewise, government officials originally projected that Medicare Part B physician services would require "federal appropriations of about $500 million a year from general tax revenues." Last year, the federal outlay for that program was $163.8 billionovershooting the original estimate by more than 4,400%.
Given this track record, the Congressional Budget Office's projection that ObamaCare will cost "only" $250 billion (you read that right: a quarter-trillion dollars) a decade from now seems far-fetched.
There's a reason Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid recently claimed that ObamaCare will lead to a single-payer health-care system: It happens to be true.

Past tense— voted for him. He heads up Heritage. And lots of people believe him.
Think it’s expensive now— wait until single payer and rationing— the expense is one’s life for the good of the “mob” and re-distribution by theft. The premiums in a single payer will be 10 times higher than now.
Someone has to pay the subsidy. It is a simple matter to demonstrate the lost jobs that are part of the cost of those who DO pay for the subsidy. Class warfare only goes so far when one finally wakes up and realizes they will never get anywhere with their “free” healthcare that is not set up that way at all. Like having insurance for a hotel room, that is then taken over by the govt.— how much would a room cost that way? The subsidy serves those on top— this is just like the ponzi scheme of social security. And like europe— headed for disaster and 3rd world.
Extremely well put the entire comment. It is the deductibles that have to be paid to get the benefit— NO MATTER what the subsidy for the premium is.
Living proof this is NOT about coverage but re-distribution— because who IS going to pay for the subsidy? Us? The dems continue to borrow from china or wherever to fund the subsidies and the other giveaways. It is unsustainable and intended to fail, or break the financial system, and hence the US system of govt. and way of life. THAT is the goal— despite all delusional democrat libs belief in the 100 year dream. We are not Europe- and Europe would not pay for this either— and doesn’t now.
Jim demint is someone I just don’t trust
Machinery, and the reality in SC, hence he left the Senate as a result, because the romneybots just about ruined any chance he had. A learning experience.
Cruz and lee yes! Not demint.
Footnote: If I understand correctly, the premium subsidy will be taxed as income...
Put it in a rap song for the youngsters to hear it.
I had not heard the subsidy would be taxed as income though I suppose, it should be.
They will be taxing so-called “Cadillac” plans through the roof after all.
wrong, the premium subsidy is a tax credit one next yr’s tax form, people will be paying the full premium each month
“You can’t blame it on just the MSM.”
I don’t blame them solely; only 99%. Look at how much attention is given to a Repub criticizing another Repub versus how much is given to the majority of Repubs who criticize Obama. The media alone is the reason Republicans are branded “racist”; Dems have kept blacks (and increasingly Hispanics) in absolute squalor for their own political gains, and are never called out about it. The GOP’s worst enemy will always be the communists in this country and their media.
If Republicans found a way to eliminate all taxes without cutting a cent from the budget, the media would never report it (and you know it).
“Like a typical brainwashed New Jersey dunderhead”
Nice; the elementary school GED is paying dividends.
Nonsense. You ascribe too much power and control to the MSM.
Look at how much attention is given to a Repub criticizing another Repub versus how much is given to the majority of Repubs who criticize Obama.
How many Dems criticize other Dems, particularly on the floor of the House and Senate? Reps criticizing Obama is just another "dog bites man" non-story. When Reps go after other Reps, that is a story.
The media alone is the reason Republicans are branded racist
"Why would they speak so insultingly, with such hostility, of opponents who are concerned citizens? And often, though not exclusively, concerned conservatives?" asks Noonan.
Because, Peggy, down deep where they live, they don't like the right, never did and have always sought to be seen by the Big Media as the progressive children of a dysfunctional and retarded family.
The first is where McCain said that those who oppose amnesty for illegal aliens are "going to destroy the fu*king party.
The second is in a call with Senator Lindsey Graham where McCain said in frustration at the rebuke he was getting, "Listen to these people ... Why would I want to be the leader of a party of such assholes?"
If Republicans found a way to eliminate all taxes without cutting a cent from the budget, the media would never report it (and you know it).
If the Reps would stop forming their circular firing squads they would be much better off. The way they treated Akin and Mourdock was uncalled for. The Dems stick together. We don't. When the leadership of the party including a Presidential nominee, senators, WH advisors, cabinet members, etc. label fellow members of the party as racists and bigots and nativists, it destroys the brand. Who wants to be a member of such a party? It just reinforces the Dems who label the GOP as a bunch of racist, old white men. It is the most destructive thing we can do. Don't blame the MSM for reporting it. Blame the a$$holes who are saying it.
"We must, indeed, all hang together, or most assuredly we shall all hang separately." Ben Franklin
Yes, you will.
thanks for the info
“Nonsense. You ascribe too much power and control to the MSM.”
You’re right; they were beaten by Obama’s oratorical brilliance./s
There is no other explanation how this half-wit token with such high unemployment, high prices for staples, record consumer debt, and low home prices is here for another four years. If you talk to average people you will be shocked by their perceptions, and you’ll very quickly understand who shaped them. If Republicans can’t find an alternative means of reaching voters, they may as well close up shop; there was NO REASON for Romney’s loss in 2012. Whatever shortcomings he had were NOTHING compared to Obama’s by 2012; Obama was a proven failure, while Romney could hold out hope (in the same way the Kenyan Pirate did in 2008).
