Idaho insurance exchange official quits, gets deal

A board member of the Idaho health insurance exchange quit Wednesday, the same day the exchange awarded his company a no-bid contract worth up to $375,000.

Frank Chan resigned from the Your Health Idaho board to avoid the appearance of "conflict of interest,". Chan's company, Applied Computing, will serve as the exchange's information technology consultant.

Chan will now earn $180 an hour to oversee the exchange's technology vendors as it works to replace a glitch-filled federal software system. The exchange is seeking a $50 million, taxpayer-funded grant from the federal government to pay for that project.

Who ever bought their insurance online? Many are not going to be very computer savvy and those that are, have multiple accounts because they can't get through all the hoops.

I pay my monthly premiums online but I don't have to, but if I have a question or need another policy, it gives me the name of my local rep & contact info.

Will people be getting their mortgages online next?

The biggest problem now with that healthcare.gov is even if you manage to jump through all the hoops, how do you know you can trust any of the information other than your input? How do you know you got the best policy for you or your family at the best price?

It's way too late to avoid that appearance. He and his family need to be shunned, both for participating in this evil program and for profiting from this sort of crony capitalism. Capitalism is good in its pure and honest form, but pretend capitalism is absolute evil when racketeering masquerades as business and involves fraud, waste, and abuse of taxpayer dollars as this stunt seems to.
