There are literally no comparisons to current rates. That is, [the Department of Health and Human Services] has chosen to dodge the question of whose rates are going up, and how much. Instead they try to distract with a comparison to a hypothetical number that has nothing to do with the actual experience of real people. Douglas Holtz-Eakin President, American Action Forum[1]
Enrollment in Obamacares health insurance exchanges has proven to be a somewhat difficult process amidst technical glitches and delays. Aside from the issues associated with actually purchasing health care, once an individual gets a quote for health insurance on an exchange, is the premium higher or lower than before?

The problem is that many of the Obama voters are allowed to stay on their parents healthcare until they are 26.In other words they vote for Obama or some other Democrat POS for years before they take the hit.
Ever wonder why they passed that?
The Government/MSM is going to try to create an environment in which everyone (a) realizes that their health care costs have increased dramatically, and (b) believes that they are the exception.
They are going to pull out all the stops on this. The MSM is going push a propaganda model 24-7.
This will further weaken the credibility of the MSM with everyone except the LIV population.
The “new media” will rise in power as a result. Also as a result, the Government/MSM will increase their attacks on the “new media,” with shut-down being the goal.
Why can't they simply publish the rates the insurers are charging and then allow us to sign up directly with them? What are they hiding?
What I cant believe is why a 26 year old man would want to still be on their parents plan? I would have considered myself a failure if I had to do that at that age.
By age 26, I had a college degree, a full time job, a full time wife, and a mortgage. I was still dumb and wet behind the ears, but I was responsible for myself.
Asking Daddy for something, I would have felt less like a man and more like a pathetic little boy.
Looking around and seeing these 30 yr old men still living at home. How can they look themselves in the mirror?
That presumes that their parent’s plan is not cut.
Great thread, libstripper...
Great thread.
Times have changed, my friend.
How they have changed.
“The problem is that many of the Obama voters are allowed to stay on their parents healthcare”
Yeah, except the parents will be losing their current plans like everyone and will be forced to go to the insanely priced exchange plans like everyone else too, so the parents might not be able to keep giving junior a free ride anymore.
You point out an excellent problem....
Always remember, Obamacare is not about health care,
it’s all about getting YOU to join the collective.
You WILL be assimilated.
Good point. Another lie.
Junior can stay on his parents plan until the parents can’t afford to pay the premium or just gets cancelled outright.
I was watching Fox Business yesterday and one of the Fox reporterettes was telling Stuart Varney that United cancelled her plan because it was not in accordance with the ACA. Expect to see a LOT of that coming down the road. If you like your plan, you can keep it..providing the Marxist HHS secretary allows it.
Being a Canadian, I will fare just fine.
I checked the Kaiser calculator. (i have been up all night) I wanted to run the numbers. Smokers will be hit with an “up to” 50% surcharge on the exchange premium. That extra money will NOT count toward the “up to” amount on the “subsidy tax credit”. They even ask if your kids smoke. Kids are described as 20 year olds. they don’t ask about Choom.
If you can’t afford your employers insurance, too bad, you are screwed. I ran the numbers on a family of 4, earning 30K and 40K per year. The plans say you can get a tax credit “up to”. The amount they have determined after taxes you NEED to spend is Up to 9.5% of after tax income. With the payments which need to be made during the tax year, then possible refunded, and the huge deductible out of pocket costs, this family living on 40K, is going to need to have an extra 10K lying around. What do they do? not eat? not pay their rent/house payment. So if you are eligible and can’t afford your employers health plan, too bad, so sad. How many workers losing hours are going to be able to pay for this?
If you don’t earn a min amount of money, you don’t qualify. You “may” qualify for Medicaid, but if your State doesn’t have that in the budget, you are screwed, too bad so sad. The man is a liar. The premise of this mess is promises that are lies. Why do 8% of the populations “rights” trump the 90% of the populations “Rights” to their healthcare plan, doctor choice, amount spent?
I wonder how many Obama voters actually have a job and one that offers health insurance?
has it been reported anywhere that someone not of the welfare class has got a rate lower than they where paying prior?
I didn’t think so
The requirement that you log in FIRST, and only then you MIGHT find out what the various plans are, is just an example of GIVING the personal information to the data miners and profilers, for future reference in “outreach” programs.
Selective Service registration, anybody?
Well, they do openly publish rates in my state; I started looking up premiums (and subsidies) half way through September. The exchange plans are unique but in this state only slightly to moderately different from those sold by the insurers directly. The insurers list both but can not sell the exchange plans directly.
I continue to feel that governors who did not implement the state exchanges did no favor to their citizens. Why subject their people to the whims and incompetence of the feds for such an important thing? Seems the residents are going to pay for their governor's obstinacy. It's worst for the childless lowest income people who can neither go on Medicaid or get subsidies.
“Additionally, states have the option to expand their Medicaid programs to cover all people making up to 138% of the federal poverty level (which is about $33,000 for a family of four). In states that opt out of expanding Medicaid, some people making below this amount will still be eligible for Medicaid, some will be eligible for subsidized coverage through Marketplaces, and others will not be eligible for subsidies.” (He lied, there are still people that can not get insurance, they wrecked the system, and it’s still a mess, but that was their goal. Dependence on the govt. and give up control of your life and freedoms)
Others won’t be eligible for the subsidies. but congress and staff are getting 75% paid, by their employer (us) that they can use. If your employer pays anything for your insurance, you are not eligible for what you have to pay, but congress has that nice little diddy that isn’t technically an exemption but a nice littler perk.
