Looks like Lonegan got within 11%. With no national support. He can win this race next year if he gets the support.

But after awhile the only thing people will notice is that the bear doesn't dance particularly well.

I don't mean to rain on your parade, but this race was an ideal opportunity for an underdog candidate to win: a low-profile election in an off year where strong, enthusiastic Republican turnout can win an election while the Democrat Party machine isn't running at full strength. This is why Republicans don't stand a chance of winning statewide elections in New Jersey at the Federal level but sometimes manage to do quite well in off-year governor's elections (see Chris Christie as a perfect case in point).

With Booker running as an incumbent in Washington next year in a "normal" election cycle, Lonegan would lose by a wide margin if he runs again.
