Obama, Boehner negotiations at a stand still (Obama rejects deal)
CNN ^ | Oct 12, 2013 | Tom Cohen, Greg Botelho and Leigh Ann Caldwell, CNN

Talks between House Speaker John Boehner and President Barack Obama over the government shutdown and looming debt limit deadline have hit a brick wall.

Boehner relayed the news to his Republican caucus during a Saturday morning meeting after a night of work where little progress was made. Republican Rep. Paul Labrador of Idaho emerged from the meeting, telling CNN that "the President rejected our deal."

The standstill has decreased the possibility that the House would vote to reopen the government this weekend and while leadership would remain in Washington to work on a proposal, rank-and-file members might return to their districts until Monday afternoon.

That’s why there should be term limits — it was never intended for them to spend their entire lives in Congress.

Well we can all be sure that our republican leadership will add more to the deal until Obamafascist gets all he wants, then they will claim it is a great deal for both sides.

“And the real question is why aren’t the Republicans pointing this out to the American people at every chance they get, instead of staying silent”

Answer: because the GOP wanted it that way. They fought weakly for the Ryan budget, and barely peeped about the Penny plan or the Tea Party budget (both of which seriously cut spending). The GOP are 95% PROGRESSIVES.

Cruz, Paul, Lee, Gohmert, Amash, et al., are anomalies in this party.

You are right that most don’t know we’re under a CR. Those who do now think its regular order. The fundamental transformation is here.

Obama will fight to the death of this nation if that is what it will take to pass his "signature achievement" socialized medicine...... for a free nation with a semi democratic/republic government....Obama is a Socialist and has great disdain for the America he supposedly serves.

No Funding for Obamacare....it is a waste of money now and will only become worse with corruption and waste.

"Conservative Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah said Obama called the medical device tax a "legitimate concern" that can be addressed because it wasn't part of the core Obamacare program."

I'm really glad to see we're back in the business of bailing out the Dems on vulnerable issues... If it's something like the medical device tax that Dems fear because they don't want to have to defend it in 2014, then we should bend over backwards to help them. If it's something we loathe (like the contraception/abortifacient mandate, for example), we shouldn't even mention it...

That way we'll get an even worse Obamacare law... and the Dems will have a much easier time of retaining the Senate in 2014. Go get 'em Stupid Party!

Pretty hard to negotiate with someone that continues to change his ‘red line[s]’. Impossible to negotiate with a liar and/or an idiot.
I am starting to feel a little sorry for John Boehner. He is catching crap from Democrats, GOPe and the Tea Party.

The government is NOT shutdown, it is experiencing a 20% reduction. The Republicans are allowing the Democrats to frame the discussion.......again. They lose right out of the gate because of it.

Yup...one thing they could do is send over to the senate exactly what they began with on the debt ceiling....a short extention. Let Reid and Obongo stew over the response from then on: we did our job, you do yours.

Meanwhile, so what is so bad about a debt limit setting in: they still pay the interest so there is no default and they just pay out very limited amounts on entitlements, nothing else. Meanwhile, since our “money” is actually circulated by the FED, it is separate from the government and should be accepted for good and services performed in non government activities.

So, if the states continue to take over paying for things like the Grand Canyon, I get to go on my trip next week. Otherwise, I may send a pile of mule dung to the whitehut for them to enjoy.

Exactly. Not only do they use their political power and privilege to get rich, they forget all about the "little" people who they're suppose to be "serving." They become the masters instead - crewel, oppressive, and demanding.
We've gotten to the point where those who work can no longer afford to support their own families because their wages are being stolen from them to support all those who choose not to labor - first - before they even get to see their paychecks every week!

Slavery never ended. The politicians simply chose a new group of people to fill in the void.

As to why the Socialist Democrats are panicking, I think you’ve hit the nail squarely on the head. They don’t want to work hard — making hard choices — they just want to feel good spending taxpayers’ money on the societal parasites.

Yep - 20% shutdown. But no ... I like it framed exactly the way it is framed right now. The government is shut down and there is no devastation and no one cares. The Republicans should make the argument that we don’t need all this government since no one hardly notices when it is shut down.
