If it was vice related then it is probably Ok that they be relieved. A drunk with “The Bomb!” is not reassuring. It will be interesting to see their replacements.
Absolutely!
The replacements will tell us if this is a takeover or just business as usual.

I agree, drunks with ICBMs are bad. These guys have had very long careers in the military. They did not get this far by accident. I expect that these are some of the most meticulous and uptight individuals on the face of the earth.
Amen! There are some bad apples, and I am all for weeding them out. Drunk officers mean drunk underlings. I have seen the result of a lack of discipline on a ship. Every day I think I will hear of some major catastrophe on this particular vessel. Root out the bad apples. As for the gambling Admiral, what else would he gamble with? I am not a fan of gambling much less a cheating gambler.
If drinking was ever a reason to get rid of our top Generals, we would never have won WWII, and you would be posting in German.
Just a little inside info. Pretty much all of the nuclear forces of the United States, since the beginning, have been party animals. How do you think that they blow off steam? We were still tipsy every morning we showed up for Nuclear Weapons Handling School class. We were the tightest and best bunch of SOB’s who ever rolled (which I can neither confirm nor deny) nukes around. I am not saying that a roaring alchy needs to be in charge of nukes. However, I just wanted to convey the reality of the forces who comprised what WAS the best military that ever rocked and rolled. Alas, I believe those days are gone by.
