He acted sadistically.
Probably sick of repeat offenders such as her.
She was innocently snoozing, or passed out wasted in the drivers seat with keys in the ignition.
This is NOT her first time driving drunk. And we have a legal system which does not take away the right to drive for a repeat offender.
A car is a deadly weapon and it can kill = innocents.
This cop is in a world of trouble, and should be. and with our drunk driving enabling legal system, probably bought her some kind of a ticket to drink and drive again.
We can be sure a two month rehab is not going to get a 47 year old life long drinker sober.
On military bases, they don’t allow drunk driving.
One offense and the career is over, no driving privleges no matter what the circumstances.
One offense.
Cop is sick of it, probably, our country letting people drive drunk.
Of course he was wrong.
Or maybe she thought she was being responsible and sleeping it off instead of driving. Many people do not know that is illegal until they get arrested for it. I also don’t know what based you have been on but I can assure you that all the ones I have been on had their fair share of drunks driving around, many of whom finished their careers after getting caught.
“He acted sadistically.
Probably sick of repeat offenders such as her.”
Prolly just another sick jack boot type.
Thought it was his right to abuse a drunk woman.
I like the ‘resisting arrest’ part. They always throw that in. Like its a freebie.
You are a tool. A tool for the oppressors, an enemy of my freedom.
Cops have become the ‘standing army’.
You lost your moral compass when you traded ‘peace officer’ for ‘law enforcement’.
Bullies and cowards, the whole lot of you.
IMHO.
Alright, you are back. Are you going to answer my question?
18 USC § 242 - Deprivation of rights under color of law
Whoever, under color of any law, statute, ordinance, regulation, or custom, willfully subjects any person in any State, Territory, Commonwealth, Possession, or District to the deprivation of any rights, privileges, or immunities secured or protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States, or to different punishments, pains, or penalties, on account of such person being an alien, or by reason of his color, or race, than are prescribed for the punishment of citizens, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than one year, or both;
and if bodily injury results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include the use, attempted use, or threatened use of a dangerous weapon, explosives, or fire, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than ten years, or both;
and if death results from the acts committed in violation of this section or if such acts include kidnapping or an attempt to kidnap, aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to commit aggravated sexual abuse, or an attempt to kill, shall be fined under this title, or imprisoned for any term of years or for life, or both, or may be sentenced to death.
As a former Provost Marshal, I can tell you that any MP who treated a suspect like this cop did would be at the end of their career as well. Possibly their supervisor as well.
Why shouldn’t somebody be able to pull over and sleep it off? Why the hell not? If somebody is drunk, and they realize they shouldn’t be driving, why make them continue all the way home? Wouldn’t it be better for them to STOP where they are? If they can pull off the road and sleep it off in a parking lot... Isn’t that better?
I understand where you are coming from and I am sure that the police officer is sick of it. There are a lot of things I’m sick of but there is only so much that can be done, regardless of how bad the situation is.
As long as people can drink and drive, they are going to drink and drive - be it one at an office party or friend’s house or a whole bunch in a bar. I don’t want a nanny state where you have to blow in a device every time you want to drive your car. But there are interventions which would help some. Like put a device on someone’s car on their first DUI and put them in an in-patient treatment program for 90 days - not one day less and don’t let them out to work or engage in any activity on their first DUI - regardless of who they are or how much money they have.
It’s all about accepting personality responsibility and having laws which work and are enforced at all levels. None of either of these seem to be in much abundance in the U.S. anymore.
My mother was killed by a drunk driver. This woman was asleep in her car and charged with driving drunk. I think what the cop did is wrong and what she was charged with stupid as well.
They don't, still happens, no states do, but it still happens. I guess these scofflaws haven't had their faces busted up yet, that will solve it.
