Appearing the October 6th airing of This Week With George Stephanopoulos, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) wants "complete surrender" by the GOP as a prerequisite for meaningful negotiations.
After, Stephanopoulos said, "Reid said he is more than willing to have a conference, more than willing to have a negotiation, but not under the threat of a government shutdown."
Boehner responded: "So it's 'my way or the highway,' that's what [Reid] is saying. Complete surrender, and then we'll talk to you."
Boehner added: "It's about having a conversation. I gave the Senate Majority Leader some advice at the White House about how to proceed. I gave him some advice over a week ago... And yet, they refuse to do it."

If the GOP was smart, it would be calling for a Constitution Convention. The federal government ultimately cannot override a majority decision of the states.

Would anybody really believe that Reid would “entertain discussions” after the government is fully funded? I doubt it. When Obama talks through his a$$, Reid’s lips move!

Well, the best thing that has come of this is that it seems to have given Boehner some guts to stand up the the grand-standing Reid! That alone is worth the price of the negative publicity that is always given by the MSM. He probably won’t learn that the MSM will always be negative towards the Republicans but he might become less sensitive to it! The MSM response seems to be a real threat to the Republicans in any endeaver.
Only when the MSM is against them are most of us in agreement with their position anyway...

Exactly. Boehner is still acting as if he is "one half of one third", when in fact, he leads a federal body that has unique features, in which he is one whole. All he has to do is to think back to the words used when the 2010 House opened for business... when they read the Constitution. Was reading it all for naught? Boehner leads the body that has sole authority of Power of the Purse. If he does not recognize that, and fails to use it occasionally... some bully is gonna take it away (and this might happen come 10/17).

I think he is aware of the likelihood that Obama is about to attempt to seize power over the United States with a Declaration of Emergency.

Unfortunately, we are dealing with panzi Republicans that seem satisfied with their paychecks and have little regard for the Constitution (except for a precious few - Texas leading the way).
