The guys an idiot and deserves what he had coming to him, but he never should have been pulled over in the first place. He was going 76 mph on an Interstate. It must have been cop ticket quota time.

He was going 76 mph on an Interstate.

Around here, constructions zones frequently drop to 50. 76 would be 26 over that limit. You wouldn't pull over someone for driving 26 mph over the speed limit?

The speed limit in a construction zone is usually 55 or less. the guy was doing 20 mph over the limit.

. Let's not cherry pick the facts and look like a cop brasher. Perp was a serial traffic menace based on past history, endangering the public and his kids since 2007.

. He was doing 76 in a 55 mph construction zone with workers present. He got everything he deserved and the cop should get 30 days paid vacation, $250,000 for cleaning the gene pool, and an attaboy award.

Speed limits are lower in Oregon than most of the west. Not sure but it probably would be 65 on rural sections of 84, and 55 within the urban growth boundary of any city in populated counties (over 100,000 i.e. near Portland).

Those 55 zones are for the money, bought by lobbyists for the cities and counties immediately after the demise of the federal 55 MPH directive. That's in the legislative history.

"He was caught traveling at 76 mph in a construction zone before he was pulled over."

I'm guessing the cop had good reason to stop him.
