Federal thugs tried to close Mt. Vernon (privately supported) and blocked the Mt. Vernon parking lots before the foundation that runs Washington’s home pointed out that they owned the parking lots too and received no federal funds.
Someone shut down federal government web sites, as if keeping a site up was more expensive than replacing it with a site that says it’s down. That was purely to inconvenience responsible people.
Federal thugs are pressuring states to close state parks and post signs blaming the “Republican Shut Down of the Federal Government”. We are facing pure evil and complete dishonesty. Any real pain from the shut down seems to be inflicted intentionally by the White House, not directly by the budget cuts.

Look at it this way. A profound atheist who bitterly hates the Catholic church decides to knock down a stone cathedral by bashing it over and over again with his face.

Right now, the administration truly hates Catholics and the Catholic church, and wants to hurt them in any way it can. But it’s tools are fortunately limited, and let’s face it, they are not the sharpest tools in the shed, either.
So what Catholics, and conservatives, need to do is just let it be known what the administration is up to. That it is, in a mean way, trying to hurt Catholics in the military, and threatening Catholic priests who work in the military.

In 1995 the economy was fairly decent—The American people had not endured four years of massive job losses, significant reductions in income, and prolonged economic stagnation; so the whiners that were trotted out garnered some sympathy. This is not the case today.
My business income in 2013 is practically non-existent and I’ve had to rely on savings to a large extent. As such, I really don’t give a flying flip about someone not being able to have their wedding on federal land which, by the way, I as a taxpayer happen to own.
