Most of you know that the NPS backed off today and allowed the veterns from the Honor Flights to access the WWII Memorial - as it should have all along.
The NPS has reasoned that the vets are asserting their 1st Amendment assembly rights. It will also allow subsequent Honor Flights the same access for the rest of the week.
HOWEVER, the NPS has declared [on orders from the Obama Admin.]that OTHER tourists and visitors DO NOT have the same 1st Amendment assembly rights. THEREFORE, the NPS has prohibited them from accessing the WWII Memorial.
A politico has vowed to sue the NPS in federal court over this issue ...
Bammy is the anti-Christ.
That’s what I’ve been thinking, and I’m a pre-Tribber.
I would hope that anyone within driving distance of Washington DC would go out there and knock down some barricades. Especially ones manned by NPS personnel, and challenge those employees to make an arrest. As they’ll have to finally cite some authority for the ability to ban your entry.
Last I checked, ‘because we said so’ wasn’t actually ever written into any law. In fact, most laws about the national parks REQUIRE the federal government to permit entry, with exemptions for emergencies such as natural disasters, imminent dangers, etc.
Lights out, gates closed, workers gone,,,, and people understand that kind of closed.
BUT, spending EXTRA money to install gates, paying cops overtime to keep you away, keeping numerous extra cops around to do so. Switching general information web pages at places like NASA over to a blank screen. And people know you are just screwing with them.
And they blame you. A-hole Obama.
Not good enough. The vets fought for the freedoms of us all, not just themselves.
Yeah - and the WWII Memorial is an unguided, open-air memorial. I live close and have NEVER seen NPS personnel there.
BTW - The Vietnam Memorial was not closed off ...
Bammy is bad for a righteous America, as America was founded.
People instinctively know that only Barry can erect Barrycades.
1st A is now like Obamacare, rationed on a case by case basis by a committee of elitist.
National World War II Memorial
The National World War II Memorial was funded almost entirely by private contributions, as specified in Public Law 103-32. The campaign received more than $197 million in cash and pledges. Support came from hundreds of thousands of individual Americans, hundreds of corporations and foundations, veterans groups, dozens of civic, fraternal and professional organizations, states and one territory, and students in 1,200 schools across the country.Donated and pledged funds were used to cover the total project costs of approximately $182 million. These costs include site selection and design, construction and sculpture, a National Park Service maintenance fee required by the Commemorative Works Act, groundbreaking and dedication ceremonies, fund raising, and the 11-year administrative costs of the project from its inception in 1993 through completion in 2004.
Remaining funds are held on deposit with the U.S. Treasury in a National WWII Memorial Trust Fund. The funds will be used by the American Battle Monuments Commission solely to benefit the World War II Memorial.
I’m starting to think he is. He’s definitely an enabler who puts things in place for the anti-Christ to come on the scene.
Whatever the boy king & his commie crew had in mind for this little tantrum turned out to be a huge pr disaster/failure!
Once again, amateur hour at the white hut...
As am I
That’s what I’m thinking, too. Is there a FReeper gathering tomorrow at the Mall? First Amendment Rights for ALL.
I can't personally say for certain, as it has been some decades since I was there, but I don't remember any low fences at the entrances to the ramps at the memorial, so those likely are NPS barricades.
What does he think the Vets are going to do without his staff around; trash the place? Score Meth? Steal things?
They don’t need help there.
Just open the gate and let them in.
Ugh freedom. I can’t breathe.
Permits, permits, uniformed personnel.
He should just treat the whole place like its Benghazi.
I went a few years ago..it’s an open air memorial, no entrance/barricades etc...
Meant there were no fences/barricades of any sort.
