I thought that last year when I got the letter from Medicare endorsing the AARP plan.

However, no AARP/United Healthcare plans is even listed for my state for 2014.

“”That’s because AARP got Medicare Advantage eliminated in exchange for their support for the ACA. That will allow AARP’s Medicare supplement plan to have less competition””

Medicare Advantage has not been eliminated. AARP endorsed obamacare because it put them in the cat bird’s seat to sell more supplemental plans. I would do anything to avoid supporting AARP.

Medicare Advantage plans are still available however it will take some time searching for them and determining if they are going to be written in our individual states.

We received notice from our current Medicare Advantage carrier that the plan we’ve had will not be available for 2014 but I see the same company has comparable coverage in our state so it may not cause as much heartburn as at first glance. Have fingers crossed.
