The House of Representatives tried but failed to pass three emergency funding bills Tuesday, amid much political finger pointing by both parties in the wake of the potentially drawn out stalemate over the budget.

Spot on. You’re the wise one here.
Yes, they are planning on it. Conservatives used to be known as long term thinkers with solid strategy. Every time we don’t get an easy day, the sky is falling. Nonsense.

We’re winning, but no plan survives contact with the enemy. Listen to the media reports. It’s no longer wholly biased because they know the public knows better. It’s the Dems constituents who will be screaming for relief in short order.
The GOP should make it clear that they’re not going to retroact these payments. Let the Dems sweat it out.
But, with the House in the pubs hands, doesn’t this mean a number of pubs voted against the bills?
Great analysis. Now the House Dems are the miniature “party of no”.
There’s no doubt now who is stopping the government from functioning. And you are right, for once Republicans appear to be playing country hardball. Name-calling and insults are all the Democrats have.
Unless they run those commercials now, they won't put pressure on the Democrats
House members were just sworn in for their two-year terms this past January. The sweet thing about all this brinkmanship and polling is that a year in politics is an eternity. All of this finger-pointing will be long forgotten by the ignorant chattering class in 3 months. The TV ads next October will, however, be fresh.
“Its an open question whether Sessions would allow Democrats to have a standard motion to recommit on the bills...”
LOL! There are 4 dems and 9 Rs on the Rules Comm. IIRC.
Sessions can do whatever he likes. Why does the ‘reporter’ even bring this up (yeah I know)?
And I don’t think the RINOs would be in a hurry to revolt anyway. King and Dent got no RINO votes for their revolt yesterday.
Sure is good to see the Rs doing it right in the House, it’s been a long, long time coming.

He’s not stupid. He’s keeping the pressure on. The Dems just voted down three programs. Can you imagine those commercials?
What obamacare commercials? All I have heard are common core and amnesty commercials. Apparently for the GOP and their donors kenyancare is not worth putting their money where their mouths are.
“Is there a budget rule or something?”
Maybe. We don’t get many real-time glimpses behind the curtain.
Are we to ascribe this apparent failure to incompetence or malevolence...or perhaps a finer but as yet undiscernable goal?
Based on too recent history, we’ve seen that the first instinct of the House leadership is to roll over or cut and run at the first opportunity. Is this setting up a sort of straw man to show that us that they “just can’t win” ?
I don’t know. I smell a rat. The problem is in that sort of company, it would be very difficult NOT to smell a rat.
Thirty-three of the 197 Democrats joined every Republican to support the veterans funding bill. Thirty-four crossed over to support a measure allowing the district of Columbia to temporarily determine its own spending priorities. And just 22 Democrats voted to support a bill funding 'National Park Service operations, the Smithsonian Institution, the National Gallery of Art, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.'
They're testing the Dems and slapping down the moderates.
“I’m hearing Cspan read a list of Republican names who are willing to vote for a clean CR with no strings attached. “
Boehner seems to be willing to keep the RINOs in line.
He may even have convinced them it’s a good idea.
Any RINO who pulled the rug out from under him now would be toast. That may change if the strategy doesn’t show positive results soon of course.
Did they say where they got these names from?
Each of those bills was a clean CR with no strings attached. They just funded one part of the government. Keep in mind that DC is just spending its own tax revenue, not federal money, but it cannot without permission from Congress. If they vote to keep DC ‘shut down’ who suffers most conservatives or liberals?
The whole government should go home until 2100.
The Dems love power and when they’re stymied they don’t have a deep game. It’s Obama’s ruin. He comes from hyperliberal Hyde Park, Chicago, Cook County, IL - it’s Dem on Dem on Dem. He doesn’t know how to negotiate. He’s never had to. Everything here is a deal, a trick. DC is big league and Boehner’s Speaker for a reason.
I know he’s not liked, but maybe 1/1000 FReepers know what it’s like to herd cats. Leadership is hard and you have to think long term all the while fighting a short term game.
So far, I really like what the plan is. There is obvious coordination between the House’s RSC and the Senate conservatives. It’s being well played.
People don’t realize that the Dems are the ones running out of cards quickly. Their constituency is government. How long can they hold out?
LOL, look whose heads are exploding. Who are in front of the cameras screaming bloody murder, throwing fits, etc.? Obama and his Democrats.
They know the score. Think, man, think. We’ve got to be sharper than this. It’s the long game. We’re winning and we only have the House. Think about what can be done, smartly and gently and after we get the economy revved up, once we hold the Senate?
D A M N. . S T R A I G H T
Spot on. It’s the Dems that are getting spanked and they’re crying like it hurts. You’re sharp and I am sorry we haven’t met before. You’re doing exactly what FReepers should be doing.
There isn’t going to be some cavalry charge or ‘final epic battle’. This is a long game and for every move we must expect a counter. So far, Obama and Reid are boxed in. They’re really stuck.
The final nail is day after day of specific ‘clean’ spending bills covering specific segments of government. All politics is local and we need to win in 2014 and I mean bury them for a generation.
