Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) on Sunday morning called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to bring the Senate back immediately to address a House-passed bill to keep the government running.
"The next step is the Senate needs to act," Cruz said on NBC's "Meet The Press." "And right now, the Senate's on recess. In my view, Harry Reid should call the Senate back in today. We have a bill in front of us. There's a government shutdown in 48 hours."
He added, "There's no reason the Senate should be home on vacation."

Wow, just WOW!!! I have been hoping for a true conservative leader for years now, and I think I just watched him on Meet the Press. What a conservative tour de force!
Finally, we have a leader who will, repeatedly, reject the premises of the media and democrats. He flatly told Gregory his premise was incorrect. Finally, we have someone who turns the dems’ lingo against them. Did you see how Cruz repeatedly and effectively argued that it is Harry Reid who has refused to compromise at all, and who will be the one shutting down the government.

In the characteristically compassionate, accepting tone of a modern leftist broadcaster, radio host Mike Malloy recently fantasized about the stabbing death of U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah).
On the heels of a 21-hour marathon speech criticizing ObamaCare, the Tea Party-backed politician has been on the receiving end of significant vitriol — even by members of his own party. Malloy, however, took that rhetoric to a new, disturbing level by volunteering a weapon to be used against Cruz.
Commenting on a conservative broadcaster’s opinion that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell “stabbed Ted Cruz and Mike Lee in the back,” Malloy found it easy to transition from hyperbole to reality.
“Oh, what if that were true?” he queried, telling McConnell he would be a willing participant.
“Mitch, I tell you what, I’ll make you a deal! I’ll provide the butcher knife,” he shouted....
