Headline at Drudge Report "DELAY OBAMACARE A YEAR OR WE WILL SHUT IT DOWN - BOEHNER MAKES MOVE"
All you say is true. But if the Senate has to vote on canceling their (and their staffers’) ObamaCare waiver, it will at least have some entertainment value.
One of my neighbors is a Hill staffer, and she is *panicking* about what to do — if she retires before December 31, she gets to keep her current health-care plan, but that means early retirement, which has its own costs. If she does not retire early, she’ll be thrown into the public exchanges, right now, presumably, getting the 72% taxpayer subsidy, but with all the haggling going on, maybe not....
What is she to do? And all I can say — with a tremendous amount of Schadenfreude — is, I thought you told us ObamaCare would be awesome? WTF is your problem?
Asking this question is literally one of the very few joys I’ve experienced since 2008.
Meanwhile we spend another year with employers cutting jobs and hours, and eliminating coverage to spouses and children.
This is VERY destructive.
End it now.
If it can be ended, that is the question.
I’m no Boehner fan, but he’s responding to the calls to make a stand here. The GOP has limited cards to play here, with the Senate and White House in enemy hands.
I have no problem with shutting down the Government for it, if the House remains resolute, which is questionable.
It would be even better if McCain could be nudged into early retirement.
He should be ambassador to Mexico.
Those people will be voting for Democrats anyway.
What I hope will happen is to strip away all the "moderates" and young voters that thought this was a good idea, until they realize they have to pay for it, in a big way.
If a budget is submitted, Obama will be the sole person shutting down the government, when he refuses to sign it.
Sign it or don’t sign it Mr. President. It’s up to you.
We provided a way to keep the government going and you said no.
Now own it.
Why not just kill Obamacare outright?
Question: can we trust Boehner to stand firm?
>> The delay isn't a complete cave. One year expires October 1, 2014, just a little more than a month before the next election.
>
> Wrong. The delay will be the requirement to have insurance by January 1, 2015, after the next election cycle. The October 1st date is the opening of the exchanges. In other words, the democrats won't have to eat this monstrocity until the 2016 elections, when it will be too late to turn back. The majority of companies will have already abandoned provisions for provided health insurance to their employees, and the only "reasonable" fix will be single payer (socialized medicine). Nice going Republicans.
Ah, but the problem you have is that you don't understand: the Republicans want the corrupt/illegitimate power and tools that the Democrats are using… this is why there has been no vigorous pursuance of the IRS-scandal, the NSA-scandal, the Benghazi-scandal, or the Fast & Furious state-sponsored terrorism incident. It is why, for virtually all of the Republican-party's platform planks, the party never pursues them: financial accountability would force them to relinquish power, lessened tax-burdens (via simplification/normalization of the tax-code) would be surrendering corporate influence and power, illegalizing abortion would mean that they could not use abortion to feed the moral indignation of its base for votes, repeal of the GCA and/or NFA would mean that they could not use the fear of gun-grabbing quite as easily, and so on and so forth.
No, the Republican party perceives that it is best benefited by saying it is against the Democrats, but allowing most of what the Democrats want to pass: in the end, this grants them power, whereas fighting and failing would reduce them to political nothings which is their greatest fear. Thus it is that every Democrat win is really a Republican win, this is
The Tao of Republican Orthodoxy

>> Dont delay it. Kill it!

> The only way to get the vast majority of the Bush Tax cuts made permanent was by delaying their ending. I think that is the strategy and why the Rats are fighting so hard.
The Bush tax-cuts were a disservice to taxpayers, a sort of preemptive subsidy. A *real* service to the taxpayer would be simplification of the tax-code, say:
flat-rate, no exemptions, no write-offs, no credits, no exceptions.
Now that you mentioned it, I think Congress is going to get the delay. Question is, what will they bury in exchange? Have the IRS, Benghazi, NSA, take your pick.
Or will Obama ask for immigration reform in exchange for the delay? And now Seymour Hersh’s article about Bin Laden raises an interesting conversation.
Obama needs Issa out of his life. What is it worth to him?

I see you and usconservative got the point of that question.
(Glad to make you guys laugh. [:D])
Yep.
“Delay”? And give the rats a pass until after the 2014s?
And give them a chance to smooth out the problems so their communist healthcare “works better”??
The Republicans are colluding with the rats. We are being played.
Gee, who saw this coming?

All this is about as real as “reality” TV. It is all smoke screen. They play the role for the cameras then go have dinner and drinks together.
I hope not. I do not want a "Republican government shutdown" being blamed for the debacle that will be the rollout of ZeroCare. I don't want a delay that pushes off public retribution until 2016.
I want the Slave Party to get what they deserve in 2014, such that we might have the first conservative government since Coolidge in 2016. We MUST purge as many RINOs as possible in 2014 to reduce their effluents on the primary process in 2016. Without taking the Senate in 2014, there will be no possibility of a filibuster-proof majority in 2016.
I'm not interested in the Republican exercise of Federal power, because it has ALWAYS bit us in the end.
Yes, by golly I think you’ve nailed it. All these excuses about how they’re fighting up hill battles is bullcrap. Andrew McCarthy laid it out plainly in Nat. Review.
