WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A woman jogging in a park while pushing her 8-month-old son in a stroller Friday morning turned the tables on a would-be attacker, hitting him over the head with a tire pump and sending him packing, she said.
Mary Jane Jarman, 33, a stay-at-home mom from Washington Heights, was jogging home on the Hudson River Greenway near the Henry Hudson Parkway and 190th Street at 9:30 a.m. Friday after dropping her daughter off at school when a man jumped out from a behind a wall holding a broken glass bottle, she said.
"Come here, come here," the man told Jarman, who said she began to run for her life, making it about 100 yards down the path before he grabbed her in a bear hug and took her down to the ground, knocking over the stroller in the process.
"I started screaming, trying to attract attention. He came at me," said Jarman, who spoke to DNAinfo New York after speaking to detectives at the 34th Precinct stationhouse.
Jarman said she managed to struggle free and reached for a hand-held bike pump she had in the stroller, bashing the attacker over the head two or three times, until he began to bleed.

You may consider this a rhetorical question, then. How is what she did any different from hiring a babysitter without doing a background check?
She’s a big girl, she can run through that park wearing only glitter pasties and a feather duster, as far as I’m concerned, but she is responsible for her child’s safety. She’s only lucky, and so is her baby, that her attacker was one person and not inclined to employ a knife.
If you don’t see that, I can’t help you any further.
Get out and wander the streets. There's no limit to the enlightening and profitable relationships you may build with random strangers. The average citizen is a refined, thoughtful, well-mannered polymath just waiting to enrich your life.
And who knows, maybe some troubled individual may enlist your help in resolving his own personal psychodrama.

this is bs. if they know enough to know they’re “sick” they can’t use it as an excuse they know they need to get treatment if they realize they’re sick. not go after someone and only if they’re fought off, offer up this crap as a legitimate reason.

someone who’s baby stroller had a flat before...? some of them use bicycle-sized rear wheels.
I was thinking a silenced 380, with a full clip discharged into the nuts. Then just go on like nothing happened.
Too bad she didn’t have a gun to blow the #ers brains across the pavement.

By “pepper spray” I hope she means “hollow points.”
