The GOPs anger at Sen. Ted Cruz expressed mostly in private meetings this week burst onto the usually collegial Senate floor on Thursday, with Sen. Bob Corker excoriating his Texas Republican colleague for blocking a quick vote to avert a government shutdown next week.
In a highly unusual Republican v. Republican exchange, Corker accused Cruz of delaying a Thursday vote simply to create a show to cater to his conservative activist supporters at the expense of making good policy.

Cruz shot back.
Why is Majority Leader Harry Reid going to vote the same way youre proposing to vote? Why is every Democrat in this chamber going to vote the way youre proposing to vote, said Cruz. When we told our constituents we oppose Obamacare, we meant it. So we are not going to be complicit in giving Harry Reid the ability to fund Obamacare.

***Corker, who was part of a small group of GOP senators that had dinner with Obama and Vice President Joe Biden on Sunday, said the president is confident and very engaging in a private setting. The two have met often on policy issues and went golfing together as recently as May, something the president rarely does with members of Congress.***
Awww! Ain’t that special, do they have sleep overs and everything?
Says Corker, “The reason were waiting is that yall have sent out releases and emails and you want everybody to be able to watch. And it just doesnt seem to me that thats in our nations interest.”
I’ll bet you don’t, Bob.
Corker’s going down next election cycle (that is if he is up for re-election in 2014). I think we need someone similar to Wyatt (Cornyn’s challenger in 2014 primary) to put the fear of God into Corker.
The fat pigs in the Republican party are afraid they will lose their place at the pig trough.
They really don’t want to change anything in the federal government - they just want their turn to be first at the scams and loot.
And they don’t want a wild card like Cruz doing anything to endanger their place on the invitation list for Washington’s best dinners and parties.
March 26, 2011:
Sen. Corker on ObamaCare
Among those who have ruefully noted the first anniversary since President Barack Obama signed the disastrous ObamaCare legislation into law is U.S. Sen. Bob Corker, R-Tenn.
Corker appropriately voted against ObamaCare because, he states frankly, it fails to address huge costs and imposes big burdens on national and state budgets.
There is not a thinking person in Washington who believes this health care law will work as designed because it doesnt solve the biggest problem in our health care system, which is cost, he declared in a recent news release.
In addition to raising federal spending on medical care in a time of record debt the law places a massive unfunded mandate on the states, as even Democrat former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen lamented.
Corker notes, Large employers will be discouraged from providing coverage because they could abandon their health plans, pay the [federal] penalties and still save millions of dollars by passing the burden onto taxpayers. And for anyone concerned about the future of Medicare, the law spends $530 billion in Medicare savings instead of using those funds to extend the life of the program.
Thats important because Medicares insolvency is already only a few years away.
It is no wonder Corker has called for repeal of ObamaCare. The peril of leaving it in place is too great.
Its got to happen in the states too. After publically opposing common core in Michigan schools, the Michigan GOP held house turned right around and voted for it today.
I keep seeing Palin/Cruz/Cruz /Palin but I dont beleive she is interested. Just a hunch. Both drive the MSM, GOPe, RATS nuts lol
They’re so focused on short-term survival they don’t realize they are exposing their true natures for all the world to see.
And its corollary:
When the parties agree...the people get screwed.
If republicans fought democrats and muslim terrorists as hard as they fight conservatives they would be running Washington and there wouldn’t be any muslim terrorists left on the planet.
Making good policy? Congress wouldn’t know good policy if it hit them in the head.
The checked-pants country club GOP establishment guys back in 1976 bad-mouthed Reagan the same as what they’re doing today to Cruz when Reagan challenged Ford.
Go Cruz.
Has the TNGOP issued a statement?
I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say that most of the Senate and House are IGNORANT SLUTS!
I saw where a gathering of Baboons was called a Congress but it turns out that would insult Baboons.
I just can’t figure out what to label the ones we elected to represent us without insulting the name of things I can think of. Any Ideas?
Even calling them sluts seems like you are insulting sluts.
I guess it doesn’t matter as they only listen to cash.
Unless and until there is 90% changeover, instead of 90% reelection of both sides nothing will change. One rule should be millionaires and lawyers are forever banned from office.
There. Fixed it for them.
Corker should just keep his stinking mouth shut.
Stick a cork in it.
Corker + Reid = McConnellCare 4Ever
Corker can go straight to Hell and take his RINO-GOP-E surrender monkeys with him, right along with the commie demonic-rats.
GO CRUZ!
Stealing and thank you!
F U CORKER!
