Tom Coburn to MSNBC: ‘I’m No Longer a Conservative’ According to Ted Cruz

On Morning Joe Thursday morning, Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) tepidly praised Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) for his symbolic filibuster, before severely criticizing his “intellectually dishonest” tactics to defund ObamaCare that Coburn said were misleading Republican voters.

“I’m finishing up nine years in the Senate,” Coburn said. “Nobody has a higher conservative rating than I do. I’m now no longer a conservative according to the standards that have been set by the expectation of this process.”

“I’m getting all sorts of e-mails from people that supported me, because they have been misled about what’s possible.” Coburn said. “Do people not think if I could change ObamaCare, I’d do it in a minute?

No Tom, you’re no longer a conservative judging by your actions.

Only he claims he is a conservative. All hat and no cattle.

My grandfather always said to never trust a grown man who parts his hair in the middle.

Shut the gov't down.

Fore the last 8 years the GOPe has been unable to control TOTUS.

Two years in the peeps gave the GOPe their leverage - The House. Since then the GOPe is still voting for cover to be able to maintain their positions and perks. The county has been going downhill, and many voters realize that the GOPe has no fire in their belly. Screw-em. Replace-em.

(I note that both Senators from WY are squishy in the ratings - not that Cheney would necessarily be an improvement; WY is apparently lost.)

I've always thought highly of Senator Coburn.
Maybe he needs to spend some time with some real people for a little while to get a refresher course.
Seems like dc has that effect on people like him.
Now having said that..

Dear Tom,
If You And The Republicans Fund Obamacare-You Will OWN Obamacare.

Sometimes you have to take up the good fight, just because it is good.

Somewhere along the line, Coburn became best buds with Obama in the Senate. He never disagreed with Barack which lead me to believe he had no principles in the first place. Perhaps DC did change him. As they say, ‘If you dance with the devil, the devil don’t change. The devil changes YOU.’

I’m afraid that you are ignorant of my knowledge of Coburn, sir.

For example, Coburn stands with Schumer and Manchin (whom Coburn donated re-election money to against the Republican) on universal background checks.

I’m not sure that is really “doing something for Conservatives,” but in my area, it is not.

He broke with Conservatives to support the 2011 ethanol amendment saying that we need some tax increases to continue spending. Uhm..... ok.

Sure, he’s voted “correctly,” often. Great. But what has he DONE? Not much that anyone - even a Scott Brown - couldn’t do.

He’s no champion and, in a pinch, he’s unreliable. At best.

He’s close to his 20th year in public office beginning in 1994..... he goes on a leftist, progressive network and trashes a man who has the guts to do what he won’t. Time to go home and re-learn what it means to be a citizen under the yoke of government.
