This is the big leagues....all is orchestrated in these "filibusters". Certain respected senators who are with Cruz are scheduled to show up at certain times. Unseen to us, there are always a couple senators and house members at their desks through the hours to give support or to make mini-speeches when needed, for instance, when he has to use the chamber pot in the chamber or freshen up.
There's always a doctor in the building, and probably some kind of nutritionist to make sure the good senator is getting the proper quick nibbles behind the scenes and is getting the right type and amount of liquids.
There are reasons for not having a large claque of Cruz supporters in the chamber, so don't sweat it. His staff and advisors know what they're doing....and they're doing a great job.
So far, during Cruz's speechifying, the media has not found any events in the chamber to criticize or to dramatize....and this is killing them. The situation remains cool, calm and collected, as it should be. Mechanics-wise, the "filibuster" is almost letter-perfect. Speaker-wise, it's a ten.

I appreciate that insight. It does temper my frustration, a bit :)
He has been flawless, and still so strong 20 hours later, what a sight to witness. Is America lucky to have this man in our corner or what?!
Thank you for a different take on the fillibuster. Something to think about. We do KNOW though that some of our senior Senator’s and Congressmen are STABBING CRUZ by words and deeds!
Guy from RNC said they are working hard behind scene to put Obombashare bill down. Told him they needed to grow a pair if they wanted to get the job done! He laughed and asked if I wanted to pass that message. Replied “you betcha!”
MG, thanks for this post..very inside baseball...helps to understand the process...makes me feel like I’m back in No. vA....shudder!
Excellent summary. I did get pretty emotional last night..I couldn’t believe how little visible support he was getting.
I’ve settled down;)
I hope you right, and that they did some planning on this. It has looked that way at times. Rand Paul’s filibuster was reportedly almost a spur of the moment affair: wrong shoes, no device for bathroom breaks, support not really lined up. I hope they learned from that, because it was still effective, but could have been even better.
