CHICAGO Senator Mark Kirk ruffled a lot of feathers with his recent plan to round up 18,000 gang members but a group of South Side pastors say they have a way for him to redeem himself: Help pass legislation to give African Americans reparation.
Rev. Anthony Williams of Freedom Community Church in Englewood says its something thats long overdue.
Jews got their reparations from the Holocaust, Japanese got their reparations from the internment. It is time for us to get our reparations, said. Rev. Williams.
Rev. Joel Washington says they also want Kirk to fight to keep mental health facilities on the South Side open, make sure federal money gets in the right hands and hold congressional hearings on violence and to do something about the flow of guns....

The price has already been paid for these ingrates.
The Civil War was America's bloodiest conflict. The unprecedented violence of battles such as Shiloh, Antietam, Stones River, and Gettysburg shocked citizens and international observers alike. Nearly as many men died in captivity during the Civil War as were killed in the whole of the Vietnam War. Hundreds of thousands died of disease. Roughly 2% of the population, an estimated 620,000 men, lost their lives in the line of duty. Taken as a percentage of today's population, the toll would have risen as high as 6 million souls.
Agree. The reparations for the holocaust & Japanese internment was to the survivors of those events. If you were a slave in this country prior to the ratification of XIII Amendment to the Constitution, and can document that fact, then you should be entitled to some form of reparations.
If there are any slaves still living then sure repair them. Good luck finding any still living after 150 years.
If they passed a reparations law and decided to cut every black American a big, fat check, do you know what would happen? Half the white people in this country would be digging through old birth records and taking DNA tests to “prove” that they had at least one black ancestor, just so they could jump on that gravy train. Not to mention Haitians, Jamaicans, South Americans and everybody else who could scam their way into the treasure chest. And what about the forty acres and the mule they promised us? You can keep the mule, but for my forty acres I’ll take a couple of Vegas casinos, thank you very much.
When did that happen and who paid?
Well, for sure, he’s hitting up the right “republican” senator. Mr liberal, himself.

Obama Aide Says Reparations Top Priority
Jan 24, 2013
Long absent from the national agenda, the issue of compensating African-Americans for their ancestors’ time in servitude is poised to become a hot-button issue in President Obama’s second term.
According to key White House adviser Valerie Jarrett, the Obama administration will take a ‘very serious look’ at the issue of reparations over the next year, and hopes to offer the nation’s 40 million African Americans a large cash payout in early 2014.
Speaking candidly to Jet Magazine, Jarrett says that black Americans are entitled to receive the wages never paid to their ancestors and that the issue has become a ‘top priority’ within Obama’s inner circle.
“A lot of naive white and Latino people assume that Obama is in office to serve their interests,” Jarrett admits,”But those of us who speak with the President every day know that his loyalties lie squarely and exclusively within our community.”
“We’ve been waiting 150 years for our 40 acres and a mule. And guess what? We demand to be paid - with interest.”

Those getting the reparations were those who actually suffered as a result of the Holocaust and the internment. Trot out a former slave and I'll support reparations for them.

FROM THE ARTICLE - THINK ABOUT IT! AFFIRMATIVE ACTION IN A HEALTHCARE BILL?
Reparations By Way Of Health Care Reform
Legislation: Still believe in post-racial politics? Read the health care bill. It’s affirmative action on steroids, deciding everything from who becomes a doctor to who gets treatment on the basis of skin color.
President Obama is on the record as being officially opposed to reparations for slavery. But as with other issues, you have to sift through his eloquent rhetoric and go beyond the teleprompter to get at what he really means.
His opposition to reparations is based on the fact they don’t go far enough. In a 2004 questionnaire, he told the NAACP, “I fear that reparations would be an excuse for some to say, ‘We’ve paid our debt,’ and to avoid the much harder work.”

From The ABCs of Barack Obama: Understanding Gods Greatest Gift to America
R is for Reparations
“Barack wisely understands that reparations have to start somewhere, and he decided to grab the bull by the horns to do something for the descendants of slaves. Well, actually, so far it benefits only four descendants of slaves; that is, Michelle, Sasha, Malia and Mother Robinson.”

Me too, except I would only pay anyone who can prove they were a slave when slavery was legal.
why don’t they just set up clinics for the poor? ...be a lot cheaper
Give them reparations. Send them all back to Africa. This way they are no longer African Americans, but just Africans.
But I'm not a racist!?!?!?
No, what it's time for is for you to GFY!
They also forget that the profits of the slave plantations were consumed by the war, and often the slave owners and their sons as well. In 1860, Mississippi was one of the richest states in the Union, with many millionaires. By 1970, New York state alone had more wealth than the entire former confederacy.
