The annual toll from firearms in the US is running at 32,000 deaths and climbing, even though the general crime rate is on a downward path (it is 40% lower than in 1980). If this perennial slaughter doesn't qualify for intercession by the UN and all relevant NGOs, it is hard to know what does.
But no nation sees itself as outsiders do. Half the country is sane and rational while the other half simply doesn't grasp the inconsistencies and historic lunacy of its position, which springs from the second amendment right to keep and bear arms, and is derived from English common law and our 1689 Bill of Rights. We dispensed with these rights long ago, but American gun owners cleave to them with the tenacity that previous generations fought to continue slavery.
There is absolutely nothing he (Obama) can do, which underscores the fact that America is in a jam and that international pressure may be one way of reducing the slaughter over the next generation. This has reached the point where it has ceased to be a domestic issue. The world cannot stand idly by.

Funny, I don’t own any ARs or AKs or SKSs or anything like that.
Funny too that my go to rifles are Tikkas and CZs and even the old Enfield. My go to handguns are Taurus.
I’m defending my 2nd Amendment rights with Euro rifles and South American handguns. Well, I do have the Remmy 7615 as my SHTF bug-out gun, so, there is that.

I like the Taurus, but it is a bit heavy for. The Hi Point .40 my first firearm, but I really like that Para Ord. It will be while before I can afford that one..

A Hi Point's best feature is the lifetime warranty that's honored by the factory no matter how old it is or many owners it's had. At least that's how it was last time I checked.
I have never even fired a Hi Point, much less owned one, but people who I know who have fired their's extensively say that if you get a good one it will do anything that pistols costing 3 or 4 times as much can do. I guess that if you can get a good one by luck of the draw you could also get a bad one the same way. But even so, I haven't heard or read about any Hi Point owner badmouthing his gun. I have all the handguns I need, but I would like to try out one of those butt-ugly but supposed-to-be accurate and reliable Hi Point carbines chambered for .45 ACP. If I'm ever gonna get one I guess it better be soon, I'm sure Obama will try his dead level best to keep me, or anyone else for that matter, from ever laying hands on one.

Yeah, the warranty is the best feature of the High-Point as you will probably need it.
But for an inexpensive, ugly gun, it does it’s job.
Just be sure to put several hundred rounds thru it to insure proper functionality before trusting it with your life.
