John Cornyn about an hour ago I intend to support the House bill that defunds Obamacare and will vote against a bill that funds it.
I meant a serious primary challenge.

I understand that and agree. I don’t think there will be a serious challenger at this late date but someone with a lot of statewide recognition and money could step up in the next 77 days left until primary filing. However, I don’t see that in the cards, jmo.
I sent a fax last night asking him whose side he was on!
Basically, hes scared s&*$(@ess.
No, Cornyn is just a scheming RINO. Unless he votes for cloture, he's voting against defunding, even if he votes for defunding in the final vote.
He'll just shake a stick at his final vote, hoping the low-information pukes won't get it.

Yes, good point
I’m still going to try to get Cornyn primaried.

There are 77 days until the primary filing deadline. Erick Wyatt of Rockport, Tx announced
back in the spring that he was going file. Apparently he’s is doing a few meetings according
to his web page.

Do you know of anyone else that has filed or intends to file that has an organization
and money to make a creditable challenge to Cornyn?

Betsy McConaghey (?) has done tremendous work in reading and deciphering this pathetic piece of, er, forced legislation/socialized healthcare. I'll try and see if she's covered this. Thanks!
Thanks for all of your efforts...KEEP MAKING THOSE CALLS!!
A 180. Hooyah!
Agree, you understood what Cornyn is saying and doing.
A lot of people here missed it, Conryn is going to exactly what Reid wants him to do. Cornyn isn’t supporting Cruz.
Must say that I’m pleasantly surprised at this bit of news. Perhaps he is paying attention to the tea leaves for a change.
It seems I was too quick to post my above reply. Too bad.
This is their "yes means no, no means yes" trick.
Vote to support house bill means vote yes on cloture.
Vote no to fund Obamacare means vote no when only 51 yeas pass the bill.

I just sent him this email- and posted it on his Facebook page...
Senator, I was happy to vote for you, and feel that overall you have done a good job. However, if you do not support defunding Obamacare, you will *not* be performing your sworn duties to your constituents and the Constitution! Recent news has you stating that you will support the house bill, which I and many other people are glad to hear. However, if you do not use every procedural trick at your disposal in the senate to help in this effort, we the voters will know- and we will not forget!
Yes -— send HIM to replace the career politician in the Senate.
Send ME to replace the career politician in the House -— Texas District 13:

“that has an organization and money to make a creditable challenge”
In order for a Candidate to have these things, it takes a BUNCH of folks like the FReepers posting here that say they want incumbent RINO/GOPe career politicians primaried/replaced, to get behind them, actually support them financially in a significant way, and volunteer to work for/with the Candidate.
Remember, any Primary Candidate is running against the incumbent, the GOP at local/state/national, the NRCC or NRSC, Karl Rove’s new PAC group, all the big donors with crony capitalist relationships with the incumbent, etc.
Good luck in Dist. 13!
Lucky for me I’m in District 1 and have two to be super happy with, Ted Cruz and Louie Gohmert.
You are indeed Blessed!!!
Everyone in the country should understand that. It's basic civics.
The other wrinkle, a very simple wrinkle, is that Cruz anticipates that Reed will add back Obamacare funding to the bill before sending it for a vote of the Senate. Therefore, Cruz says, GOP senators must vote NO on cloture, since there will not be 51 votes to defeat the bill, though only 41 NO votes are required to defeat cloture. Now Reed is also threatening to change the rule on cloture, but that is a different topic.
From this thread, it appears that MOST Freepers do not understand this. Any GOPe senator reading this thread will correctly think that we are lambs awaiting fleecing, that they will have nothing to worry about in voting for cloture and then against the Reed-modified bill.
Voter education is required and Cruz is the man to do it, getting the public to contact their senators. Last moment procedural steps by Reed, who controls the process, will make it necessary for Cruz's allies in the senate to tie up the Senate's business for a couple of days while he, Cruz, goes to the people.
Most importantly, Cruz, Paul and Lee, and hopefully others, need to get in front of the public now and explain how procedure in the Senate works. They can't just presume that the voter's eyes will gloss over, since the same trick will be used perpetually on this and other issues.
Public ignorance on this topic has resulted in countless lost Senate battles by conservatives over decades. This must stop and there is no more critical time for that awakening than to hamstring Obamacare.
>> GOP senators must vote NO on cloture
No new knowledge here for FReepers. At least it shouldn’t be.
