Paul: We probably can't get rid of ‘Obamacare’
Associated Press ^ | Sep. 21, 2013 5:15 PM EDT | Thomas Beaumont

Republican Sen. Rand Paul says President Barack Obama’s health care law probably can't be defeated or gotten rid of.

And he’s suggesting there is little he and other congressional Republicans can do to stop the law from taking effect. …

Stop pistol-whipping the libertarian, LVR. They have very fragile cheek bones.

They have the numbers in the House and that is all it takes. Someone needs to take Boner behind the barn and explain a few things. Refusing to fight health decisions at government gunpoint should have some very serious blowback.

-— As long as the President is in office and has a Democrat-controlled Senate, there is no chance of repealing the thing -—

Not repeal, defunding. All the House has to do is to keep sending up funding legislation, excluding commiecare. The Senate can shoot down the proposals endlessly. But how long will they shutdown the government to save commiecare? Shutting down the government is good for us, bad for them. All we have to do to win is stand firm.

...there are millions of people in this country, who may not agree with [all others who call themselves] conservatives on every issue, who are just as tired of the direction this country is taking as all of you are. Don’t tell us [who you might consider] non-conservatives to go to hell. You may get to the finish line but you need millions of people like us to win the race against the liberals."

[brackets are my addition] and AMEN to THAT! United we stand. Divided, we are falling. Pick your battles, and thanks in advance for not flaming or zotting. FReegards to all!

Unless we can win the House and the Senate with the votes to overturn a presidential veto, Obamacare will not go away.

Time for us to understand that all that is happening now can no longer be remedied at the ballot box. This is what our side refuses to believe and that is why we are screwed.
How many years have we been wasting on thinking we can fix it all in the next election?

I read that crap around here and I want to gag.

I don’t get why you and those like you do not understand that a conservative house does not need any help from the senate or the White House to stop the money.

No money bill can become law unless the house signs off on it.

Think of it as if you were talking about a check.

The secretary can write all of the checks she wants to write, but they are worthless until the person who is legally empowered to sign, signs it.

In a large corporation even the president can not sign the check nor can any of the board sign the check, unless they have been given that duty. Only the chief financial officer.

Obumbler can not sign the checks nor can the senate.

Only the house.

Well, is he right? Half the time I find people misquoted. He may be referring to the problem with the lack of backbone in the current congress.

The article references the fall in Gallup of the Dems - people are starting to get all their notices of their health ins cancellations, and they are not happy. Perhaps the statement is meant to be a little more “oil on the fire”.

My daughter got her cancellation of her health ins this week. What insurers are doing are simply cancelling all the non Obamacare compliant plans, leaving everyone high and dry. What it was planned to do. Then they will be forced to ask for government insurance, which will be so much less for so much more money, but they will just be happy to have something.

The GOP has to be politically dumbest party in modern times. Their leading spokesmen regularly make clueless pronouncements, they have no long-term strategic plan, and I could not name the last time they passed one piece of legislation consistent with their party platform. Even when they control the WH and both Houses of Congress. They are positively pathetic. Say what you will about the Democrats, but they are constantly and fiercely working to advance their statist agenda. The GOP is run by a bunch of limp d**cks.

> I’d say his odds of becoming the next president just dropped big time.
He’s stating an obvious fact. As long as the President is in office and has a Democrat-controlled Senate, there is no chance of repealing the thing. Be realistic.

I am. He took that bull by the horns and already vocalized defeat. Words have power.

We need leaders that will not give up and surrender before the battle has already begun. Many wars were won because of the morale of the troops (and God) against all odds simply they didn’t pay attention to stats and numbers and fought with their hearts.

According to politicians such as Lord Halifax, there was no way Britain could defeat Nazi Germany after France fell in 1940.
Rand Paul should never acknowledge defeat against an evil enemy.

Right. Sure. We’re just stuck with it. The majority of Americans don’t want it, but we’re stuck with it. Sure.

What a bunch of weak-kneed saps we have in Washington.

Pre-emptive defeat. What’s missing is courage and fighting spirit and the will to defeat crap.
