Congressional Tri-Caucus denounces cuts to SNAP

WASHINGTON, DC – On Friday, Sept. 20, the chairs of the Congressional Tri-Caucus – comprised of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC) – released the following statements denouncing H.R. 3102, which cuts the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) by $40 billion over the next 10 years. The bill passed the House of Representatives last night by a vote of 217 to 210.

Rep. Judy Chu (CA-27), CAPAC Chair: “Once again, House Republicans have put struggling families on the chopping block, cutting SNAP by nearly $40 billion. These cuts have a profound impact on the Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community. In the wake of the Great Recession, the number of AAPIs in poverty has increased by 38 percent, and over 10 percent of our community relies on SNAP benefits to survive. It’s time for the Republican leadership to stop playing games with the most vulnerable among us. They are literally taking the food out of hungry mouths.”

Rep. Marcia Fudge (OH-11), CBC Chair: “With this vote, Republicans chose to remove the assistance that millions of Americans rely on to feed their families each day. At a time when national unemployment remains high, we should be supporting these programs; not cutting them. This vote does not reflect the values and principles of our nation. We lose our direction when we turn our backs on millions of Americans in need. I am confident that we will be able to restore funding to the SNAP program in Conference and protect the integrity of one of our most important anti-poverty programs.”

Rep. Ruben Hinojosa (TX-15), CHC Chair: “Today, I joined with religious and hunger leaders across the country in standing up for America’s families, our military veterans, our disabled, our seniors and our children who will be drastically affected by this bill, it will literally be taking food out of the mouths of our most vulnerable residents. SNAP is a vital tool to fight hunger and help struggling Americans feed their families as they seek new employment, send their children to school, and get themselves back on their feet."

Let me help these clowns out...

There is MORE than $40 BILLION in fraud in the SNAP system.

That is in addition to those here ILLEGALLY, who are receiving, but not entitled to SNAP bennefits.

So, if somebody is really worried about “those in need”, go fix those broken elements, before you come whining to me about how cruel we are.

One party predicts that poverty is going to grow. And if elected, they’ll see to it.

Hmmmm.....

WHY is it that ONLY Ethnics are complaining about their EBT's gonna be cut, whereas, there's no outcry from Whitey?

Couldn't be that the EBT's are used for lots o' things, other than FOOD, could it?

Drug Testing, Public Works MANDATORY work, and LIFETIME suspension from Public Assistance IN ALL FORMS for anyone caught using that Assistance ILLEGALLY, OR, a 5 year suspension if you are on Public Assistance OF ANY KIND, if you fail Random Drug Testing, PERIOD.

Yeah; I know....." THAT's RACIST".....

“comprised of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus (CAPAC), the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC), and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus (CHC...”

The slaves on the democrat plantation are whining. Give them rice, beans and a recipe book.

I eat rice all the time. I add in either broccoli or asparagus, slap on a pat of butter, a dash of salt and pepper and I’m in hog heaven.
