FRiend, the Bible records that human beings have always had a complex and difficult relationship with God.
Genesis 32 immediately comes to mine, where Jacob literally wrestled God, all night!
So God has never been easy for people to learn or accept, and the struggle is often costly -- Jacob himself suffered physical injury.
