It isn't actually the "bible" that gets worshiped in such situations. It's a demonically expurgated form of it. 99% of the time what is left out in such cases is love, and it is pumped full of imaginary hate and self-pride. The result is ugly and I have seen it first hand, and was able to say there, but for the grace of God, I'd still be.

All of us have problems recognizing Jesus where we ought to recognize Him. That’s part of the situation of being a sinner, even if a saved sinner.
The thing that needs most to be watched for is he or she who seems to be on Satan’s live wire to hell. That person won’t simply see with imperfections and blind spots. That person will actively seek to subvert goodness. Often that person is an unbeliever, but it could be a very immature believer.

I disagree with your premise. Just as the Law is our tutor the Law does not save us. The Holy Spirit testifies to Jesus Christ. The Scriptures are Holy Spirit inspired. The actual paper and ink do not save us but the inspired words. Just as in Acts 17 the Bereans searched the scriptures to see what Paul was preaching was true.
Another example is the High Priestly prayer in John 17:
John 17:20-21 NASB
“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
We do have the words of the disciples in the NT Holy Spirit inspired.
So as believers we too are led by the Holy Spirit. And the same Holy Spirit will not lead us to conclusions which change or contradict His inspired scriptures. And we do have the apostles warn us about straying from what they taught.
That was the purpose of posting the Matthew 4 reference.
Finally, I don’t see your point about “not having both.” The apostles surely received the Holy Spirit and quoted the scriptures often to teach the Gospel and doctrines.
