I disagree with your premise. Just as the Law is our tutor the Law does not save us. The Holy Spirit testifies to Jesus Christ. The Scriptures are Holy Spirit inspired. The actual paper and ink do not save us but the inspired words. Just as in Acts 17 the Bereans searched the scriptures to see what Paul was preaching was true.
Another example is the High Priestly prayer in John 17:
John 17:20-21 NASB
“I do not ask on behalf of these alone, but for those also who believe in Me through their word; that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me.
We do have the words of the disciples in the NT Holy Spirit inspired.
So as believers we too are led by the Holy Spirit. And the same Holy Spirit will not lead us to conclusions which change or contradict His inspired scriptures. And we do have the apostles warn us about straying from what they taught.
That was the purpose of posting the Matthew 4 reference.
Finally, I don’t see your point about “not having both.” The apostles surely received the Holy Spirit and quoted the scriptures often to teach the Gospel and doctrines.

Christian totems(fetishes), amulets are much loved..
And attributed with magical(divine) abilities..
i.e. books, scripture, statues, artifacts, vestments, religious tools.. (symbols) etc...
Fetish faith in the bible is quite common..
God (the real one) remains, to most, ignored..
It remains difficult for some to get out of the fetish box..
