First time i heard that, where is it from?
The Bible: 1 Corinthians 15:45-47
Actually, the New Testament book of Hebrews takes note of the fact that Jesus was not a Levite nor a descendent of Aaron, calling Jesus a priest of the order of Melchizedek.
You are a priest forever,
after the order of Melchizedek. (quoting Psalm 110:4)...being designated by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek.” (Hebrews 5:6,10)
Of course Melchizedek was the very mysterious priest of Salem (Jerusalem?) to whom Abraham immediately gave a 10% tithe... (Genesis 14), who seemed to appear out of nowhere and then disappear from history too.
At the time Jesus walked the earth, there was no New Testament or Hebrews.

That's not a cane, silly! That's Oblina!
High C or E flat?

He also was a Priest.
Heb 5:3-10
(3) And by reason hereof he ought, as for the people, so also for himself, to offer for sins.
(4) And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, as was Aaron.
(5) So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
(6) As he saith also in another place, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.
(7) Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
(8) Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
(9) And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
(10) Called of God an high priest after the order of Melchisedec.
I love the Book of Hebrews; my favorite. Thanks for posting the verses.
Ummm, OK, yes, the NT was written after Jesus work, by and under the supervision of the eyewitnesses to Jesus’ resurrection, the Apostles.
How does the timing of the writing of the New Testament and the book of Hebrews affect whether Jesus’ priesthood was of the order of Melchizedek?
The point of the Hebrews chapter I cited is that God Himself established the priestly order of Melchizedek (long before Moses, btw) ...not the writer of Hebrews.
So Aaron and the Levites were of one priestly order, and Melchizedek and Jesus of another...
that takes you back to reply 37, which jesus are you talking about
Thanks! One of your better “finds”, IMO...
Lotsa good info and photos there!
How very dare you!.
Are you suggesting my finds aren’t usually good?, lol. I post a lot of good WW2 and history stuff.
Just giving this one its rightful place (IMO) in the “stack”... ‘-)
It was not the priestly one, but his sister inlaw
