Well I for one am for immediately raising US taxes, on foreign-made products. That’s just my approach, but it would work.

For every action there's an equal and opposite reaction. That's true in physics, and in international trade.

As soon as we raise taxes on foreign made goods here, other countries will retaliate by raising taxes on American made goods.

That immediately puts us back to square one, with the added penalty of Americans now paying a punitive tax on imported goods they need and want.

Now what? It's our move.

Except we’ve already offshored so much, we no longer have to worry about that. We really don’t.

That is what I am saying.

For the entire last generation, all our businesses have been offshoring every American job possible.

Bring back American work.

Stop offshoring so much.

If we get in a “trade war” with anyone, it will only bring jobs home to America.

Everyone is selling out American jobs.

Democrats. Republicans. Everyone.

If we get in a “trade war” with anyone, it will only bring jobs home to America.

If we get in a trade war with another country, American exports will be reduced. Any guess as to what that would do to American jobs?

You keep thinking that force is the way to bring the jobs home. I'm telling you, it's been tried before, and has never worked. You have to figure out a way to make this country a more attractive place to do business.

The potential for greater profits is the only thing that will bring the jobs back. Figure out how to do that, and you'll have the beginnings of a solution.

The problem with your logic is, America since any previous trade issues has sent offshore a HUGE amount of what had previously been American manufacturing.

Massively, we have already torn down our own manufacturing.

That to me, is the major difference.

Previously America had always had a lot of manufacturing, and that had kept us from really playing hardball.

I think it’s time. Play hardball. Enough with this stupid de-industrialization of America.

Bring back US jobs, and manufacturing.

Now.

Bring back US jobs, and manufacturing. Now.

You seem to think that all that's required to bring US manufacturing back to these shores, is to simply demand it.

You can demand it until you're blue in the face, but nothing's going to change until you isolate the factors that have caused companies to make the choice to relocate overseas. Once done, see if you can figure out a way to make conditions in this country more attractive to manufacturing businesses.

Until you start talking about real world solutions to this issue, you're just barking at the moon.
