Criminally insane persons should not be permitted to walk in a free society.
Putting a litmus test on gun ownership does nothing to keep the crazy from killing with poison, pillows, knives, cars, baseball bats, etc.
If they cannot legally be held accountable for their actions, they should require a legal guardian in their company at all times. Essentially house arrest or institutionalization.
The drugs don’t make them “normal”. They make them PASS for normal.

As far as I’m concerned, background checks, registration, and restrictions are simply sell outs to the path of least resistance.
Background checks are an utterly useless waste of time and money.
Be very careful with that idea. The Soviets' favorite method of silencing dissent was to declare their political enemies "insane" and to commit them to mental institutions, where their minds truly were destroyed. The New Soviets are on the rise here in America, adopting the tactics of their mentors.
