Three shooters are involved in the Navy Yard shooting, a police spokeswoman said.

One of the shooters is “down,” police said, but two remain in a building on the grounds.

One of the shooters at large is dressed in fatigues. At least one has a long gun, police said.

Why wait for DC cops or their SWAT. Navy has their own rather bad-ass security and not on contract.

You bet, black on black. Quite a few years ago- like over 20, I walked from the Metro station nearby past 8th and I Marine HQ Barracks and down to Anacostia Navy Yard, where there are fantastic static displays (like a section of the battleship Yamato with a 16 inch shell hole through 2.5 foot thick armor steel, and the steel was “fractured” like it was butter and the knife has put airholes in it as it past through).

The walk to the Yard was at that time— concerning as to street safety. Carrying gave some security to me, but still it was dangerous ground. Wouldn’t do it now.

I lived and worked in that neighborhood for a time. Heard gunfire from across the river all the time.

A few years back they pretty much gentrified 8th from Pennsylvania south to the Marine Baracks. But once you got south of the freeway, heading down to the Navy Yard, it got really, really iffy.

I’m having trouble posting. Getting a blank page much of the time.

Uh oh... same thing is happening to me. I'm also getting a blank page often - but not all the time - when I check my pings.

Something is wrong with FR... :-(

He had clearance in 2007, from what I’ve been reading...

I understand many of the companys, such as the one he was with...hire those WITH security clearances ‘already’....which implies they may not do much further checking if they already have a clearance.

We do know not enough security checking is done...from those who do the checking they’ve often complained they are not given the time to do so.....they “rush” those doing the clearances even when they see possible red flags.

This guy had three different events mishandling rifles before this event.....he was discharged from the military for scrapping with his superiors.....among other outstanding issues which indicate even his background check to own a gun likely wasn’t anymore checked then the companies he worked for.

Basically, and as we know, if someone wants a rifle they are going to get one....gun laws won’t change that equation.....we are living in a time of lawlessness and laws are in favor of those who “do” crime...not the citizens.

What is it with these news briefs from Law Enforcement and Politicians to spend all of their time patting themselves on the back on the great response and work everyone is doing.... Drives me insane. It just goes on and on with shout outs to every department that responded. The FBI spokesperson was the only one that did not do any shot outs... I don’t care about how departments responded; in fact that is their JOB! One last thing; This congresswoman from DC is an idiot!

"Not necessarily. Over the past year, at least, there has been a move to make military bases more accessible to the public."

------------------------------------>

That's smart. Open up a facility in a gun free zone to the general public.

Stand back and see who strikes first:

1) People with grudges against military in general.

2) Religion of peace neanderthals always on lookout for target rich environments.

Incidents like this are going to happen more and more frequently, I fear.

But here is what you are missing: the dead bomber on the slab picture shows the same body hair pattern and the same small nipples. The naked man is inconsistent with both of these features. See picture:

"There won’t be any survivors, so we won’t ever know why it happened. Libs at DU saying this would never have happened if there were stricter gun control laws."

That's what I was thinking - no survivors. Who wants to go through protracted legal machinations.

Hate to have to say this, but I have to hope all perps end "down".....terrorist or not.

As DU and other liberals go, they are ignorant as re : guns - they are DOLTS. Ignorant dolts.

"Think they said on the radio they are searching for one white man and a black male, age 50. I’m probably repeating what has already been said."

Thanks, BeadCounter. We'll hear more today.

Of course it may not be the truth but there will be official news reports and interviews flying all about by all kinds of people.

"This hopey changey thing has been DEVASTATING for America! 0bama has NOT been fighting a war on terror, he's been ENABLING THEM"

Good point. B. Hussein O. hates America and loves militant Islamicists.

And yes, I so miss George W. Bush everyday. He would never have let these terror attacks just be explained as workplace violence.

The sign is pretty funny - someone came up with this cleverness and I applaud them!

"I wonder if any of the shooters are carrying Adam Lanza’s BROTHER’S ID on them? Ya know, the brother Adam hadn’t seen in years.

---------------------------->

No kidding...did he have a good id for himself? Did he use another's id to keep from getting caught and let the real id owner take the fall?

I'm guessing he carried any id so that if he was confronted he could quickly flash an id and say something like 'we gotta get this guy' and it would be assumed he was not the shooter.

There are so many options. And, I bet none of them are right! <8^/

Where have I been.....what's in the report or where can I read It?

I'm sure it is upright and correct - factually pure. <8^/

Glad to see your post!

"...know both were wearing military-style uniforms, but do not know if they are military employees."

Is it wrong to hope they get run over by a car, like in Boston?

Yes, it is wrong...but I thought about it anyway.

When will Americans be able to protect Americans again?

".@SenatorReid "In light of the events at Navy Yard, we've decided to recess Senate for the day"

IOW, they are getting their butts out of Dodge - potential danger. If Naval Yard can be compromised, maybe the congressional offices could be, too.

They are the ones who legislate the onerous gun laws.
