What economic recovery? I heard them say on Fox this weekend that the true unemployment rate is 14%, if you count all the people who have quit looking for work, or are working part time when they really want full time work.
Who are you going to believe? Obama or your lying eyes?
For me the best way to determine how badly the economy is hurt is to watch the traffic on the roads. Compare it to the Bush years if you can. What I see is a whole lot less people driving to and from work than there used to be. and there are a whole lot of small businesses closed down that used to be doing quite fine.
I have noticed that too. It also takes a lot less time to get through the check-out line at WalMart.
I noticed that quite a while ago, after moving back into an area I lived in during the Bush years. I used to have to take an alternate route home at least once a week because of traffic snarls or accidents; the number of times I've had to take an alternate route in the past two years can be counted on one hand.
A few days ago, I saw an article about how people are driving less despite the economic recovery, and how this behavior does not correspond to driving behavior during past recoveries. I was a tad incredulous.
My “tell” on the economy is garbage. Garbage day, are there boxes that indicate the purchase of high-ticket items? Or is there just garbage?
