Tea Party darling Sen. Ted Cruz, (R-TX) during a speech at the Heritage Foundation on Wednesday solidified his base with praise and adoration for the late Sen. Jesse Helms, (R-NC). The speech was delivered during a series of lectures on foreign policy in which the legacy of Jesse Helms is the central focus. During the speech, Cruz told a story about John Wayne giving a $5 thousand donation to Helms and telling him to, "keep saying those crazy things." Cruz admitted that he has received that same encouragement and likened himself to Helms in that regard.
Cruz went on to say:
The willingness to say all those crazy things is a rare, rare characteristic, and you know what? Its every bit as true now as it was then, Cruz said. We need 100 more like Jesse Helms in the U.S. Senate.Cruz made mention of the fact that the first political donation he ever made in his life was a $10 donation he made to Jesse Helms when he (Cruz) was 10 years old. That donation would have been made at a time when Helms was one of the most racist and segregationist politicians ever to walk the halls of Congress. Using this similarity in ideology as a backdrop, Cruz got into the meat of his speech and began to criticize Obama's foreign policy.
We should focus directly on protecting U.S. national security in the interest of the American people, we should speak with moral clarity, and we should always fight to win.Cruz has become a likely candidate for the Republican Party's nomination for president following the demise of Marco Rubio.

Ted Cruz Ping!
I could not say it any better.
But Sequester the military budget, right Ted?
Political demise I assume. Last I heard Rubio was alive and kicking.
Nope.
He’s dead, Jim.
*Snort* [giggles]
It’s not Darksheare’s fault!
And don’t call me Jim...
“I deny knowledge of eating anyone’s soul in the past twenty four hours. This was forty eight ago? Oh dear.”
We are once bitten, twice shy.
Plenty of Republican candidates have come out, their guns blazing with Conservative rhetoric, only to take a hard left after election day.
I have high hopes for Sen. Cruz, but I think that we need to keep a very close eye on his behavior and his record.
He’s not the only one. I don’t completely trust any of them on either side of the aisle.
Oh good. You’re here. Did you ever find my Kerblacht?
Watch out. She bites.
You mean this thing?
*holds up arm with hideous something chewing on it*
OMGoodness! No coffee!!!
Here, let me take her... Unhinge your jaw, sweetie... Easy...
Come on, little girl. He didn’t really mean that you’re hideous...
Thanks, Darks.
Welcome.
It did have coffee though.
For future reference, never give coffee to a Kerblacht.
I hope that arm grows back soon.
It’s fine.
Rubio, on the other hand..
*shudder*
Soul less abominations walking around in broad daylight, what has this world come to?
We should focus directly on protecting U.S. national security in the interest of the American people, we should speak with moral clarity, and we should always fight to win.
When Cruz says this, you know he would follow-through on it. Period.
If Barry O’Bamma were to say such a thing no one would take him seriously, he would utter 30-40 pre-conditional issues to consider first, wet himself, have a secret meeting with the media on how to spin this, go golfing, have 4-5 lackies take the fall for him, blame republicans, dither and backtrack his statements, manufacture some other crisis, and pray that someone will get him out of the mess.
Oh, FReepmail of a grumble grumble type.
Sen. Cruz just continues to go after hte libs, saying one right thing after another.
