Fox News anchor Shepard Smith is leaving his 7 p.m. ET timeslot to take on a larger role heading up the network’s new breaking news division.
Beginning this fall, the new division, with Smith as the main anchor and its managing editor, will have the capability to break into any Fox News programming, daytime or primetime, with the latest reporting, network spokeswoman Ashley Nerz told TheBlaze.

John Gibson and Glen Beck were fun, but they both must have really po’d the front office.

Managing editor is a very powerful position.
Brit Hume was managing editor of the D.C. bureau for Fox...essentially, Miss Shepherd will get to decide WHAT is news and the “angle” it takes.
I think the rumors about Fox News Channel going full-fledged pro-sodomite may be true....
I think Sean will stay where he is and Megyn Kelly will take the 7 slot. I don’t watch Sean anymore, anyway, so I don’t really care. But, Shep, on the other hand, leaving one of his timeslots is a plus. He’ll have to learn to read.
Hannity does a live radio show from 3-6..NO way he can get over there, and prepare for a &PM TV show..
“Breaking News”? Faux News labels everything an “ALERT” and misses all the actual breaking news.
- Fox News weak spot has been ‘breaking news’ events. cnn routinely beats them to air on these types of stories.
