Actually I think all of the armed forces of the PRC are considered part of the "Peoples' Liberation Army", so bizarre as it seems, the description of the action given in the article is correct.
Their navy, the ‘People Liberation Army Navy’, has a name that makes you go, “Huh?”
Kinda like a major political party in Canada (federally from 1942 - 2003 and still named that way in the provinces) called the ‘Progressive Conservative Party’... “Huh?”
Now that they have a ‘blue water’ navy, if they separated the navy from the army and created a group like the Marines, would that group be called the’People Liberation Navy Army’?
It is called the People's Liberation Army Navy.
