Making the "slippery slope" argument because our public officials are actually enforcing the existing gun laws is ridiculous. Isn't enforcement of our existing laws what all of the gun advocates always say they want?

If one-third of the firearms being taken from unauthorized people are coming from convicted felons, it's a sure bet the other two-thirds are coming from people who have been judged mentally incompetent, are drug addicts, or are prohibited from possession of a firearm because they have committed a significant crime not amounting to a felony, such as a domestic battery.

We should be increasing the resources devoted to removing firearms from anyone legally prohibited from possessing them. Then we can decide if additional restrictions are necessary to keep such weapons out of their hands in the future.

"Then we can decide if additional restrictions are necessary to keep such weapons out of their hands in the future."

That's always the solution isn't it. As long as one law-abiding citizen has one gun, you and others will live by the above rule. The problem is, you use that rule, to make law abiding owners of guns, criminals if they don't turn them in.

This isn't about reducing crime, protecting children or anything else short of eliminating gun ownership. At least you could own up to it.

Do drive-by shootings still exist? Yes.
Do armed robberies still take place? Yes
Do armed carjackings still take place? Yes
Do armed men still kidnap women? Yes
Do armed men still rape women? Yes

Tell us what your gun controls have achieved. The crimes still happen, and fewer people are able to own fewer types of guns. Criminals can get their hands on any gun they want. We as law-abiding citizens can't. Isn't that special.

Good post. Of course we know better than to expect even a semblance of sanity from the anti-gun crowd. And we know better because we know they "think" with their feelings. I had a debate just yesterday with a liberal friend and he could barely get through a sentence w/o using the term "I feel..."

Feeling isn't thinking. Feeling is an emotional reaction. And when emotions outweigh common sense and logic we are faced with nonsensical results, results that in a state like Kalifornia which is dominated by liberals adversely affects us all. God help us.

I agree with you DoughtyOne; you might also want to inform the rubberhead that with the exception of drive-by’s, not all of these crimes are committed with only guns.
