Sen. John McCain pulled his support Wednesday for the Senate resolution authorizing limited strikes in Syria, a blow to President Barack Obamas campaign to get congressional approval for military action in the war-torn country.
McCain, the Arizona Republican and Obamas 2008 White House rival, has long been a strong advocate for intervention in Syrias civil war, and Obama doggedly courted McCains support for the measure authorizing military force, including during a meeting at the White House on Monday. But McCain said the limited actions that would be authorized by the resolution dont go far enough in responding to Syrian leader Bashar Assads alleged use of chemical weapons last month.
In its current form, I do not, McCain said Wednesday when asked if he supports the measure, the Associated Press reports.
McCain had previously said it would be catastrophic for Congress to turn down Obamas request. While Obama won the support of House GOP leaders on Tuesday, McCains opposition could make it harder to bring other Republican foreign policy hawks aboard. On the flip side, it may make it easier for Obama to win support from war-weary Democrats.

Yeah, I know. But I’m not going to argue about it again. I’m just one vote.
Following is from McCain’s acceptance speech. Sounds like he was admitting he sang like a canary. Being a Navy veteran from the early 70s, I’m ashamed I voted for him.
From McCain’s speech: “A lot of — a lot of prisoners had it a lot worse than I did. I’d been mistreated before, but not as badly as many others. I always liked to strut a little after I’d been roughed up to show the other guys I was tough enough to take it.
But after I turned down their offer, they worked me over harder than they ever had before, for a long time, and they broke me. When they brought me back to my cell, I was hurt and ashamed, and I didn’t know how I could face my fellow prisoners.”
more like he took a lot of heat from those idiots that re-elected him! He votes the finger in the wind method.
Rapture comes first! If I’ve read Revelations right. So you best be right with the Man up stairs, cause you don’t want to be left behind to endure all those bowl, scroll and trumpet judgements and satan.
Well I voted for him and Romney. I knew they were both scumbags but what’re gonna do? I preferred them to Obama.
I honestly think all that torture in Vietnam fried McCain’s brain.
That would imply that he actually has a brain.
He was only tortured for the first five days. After that he sang like a canary. His mental problems are from brainwashing. And way too much soap was used.
Oh I never heard that. Real life Manchurian candidate eh?
