I’ll take that bet. A couple winters ago, our power company decided to randomly cut power for a few minutes here and there on one of the coldest days. When they flipped the switches back on, many transformers blew so people were without power for much longer and their crews were scrambling trying to find new transformers and getting them replaced. In other neighborhoods, they simply forgot to turn it back on. IDIOTS!

There were rolling blackouts in the entire ERCOT-regulated (Texas) system on account of natural gas shortages AND several other plants went off-line due to the cold ... There are three or four "power delivery entities" (including Oncor) and even more independent generators or producers of 'power' ..
