An 18-year-old man was convicted of murder in the shooting of a baby who was riding in a stroller alongside his mom in a town in coastal Georgia.
Jurors deliberated about two hours before finding De'Marquise Elkins guilty of 11 counts, including two counts of felony murder and one count of malice murder in the March 21 killing of 13-month-old Antonio Santiago in Brunswick. The man's mother, Karimah Elkins, was on trial alongside him and was found guilty of tampering with evidence but acquitted of lying to police.
De'Marquise Elkins faces life in prison. At the time of the shooting he was 17, too young to face the death penalty under Georgia law.
Sherry West testified that she was walking home from the post office with her son the morning of the killing. A gunman demanding her purse, shot her in the leg and shot her baby in the face after she told him she had no money, she said.
Prosecutors, who declined comment after the verdict, said during trial that De'Marquise Elkins and an accomplice, 15-year-old Dominique Lang, are the ones who stopped West. Prosecutors say the older teen pointed a small .22-caliber revolver at West and demanded money. When West refused several times to turn over the money, Elkins fired a warning shot, shot the woman in the leg and the baby between the eyes, prosecutors said.

17 too young for the death penalty? I almost wished they waited until he was 18 to continue the trial so that he could be sentenced to death.
I guess council for the defense didn’t come up with “Antonio was trying to sell the Perps drugs”, like they did in the 88 yr old Vets case. Or they were standing their ground against Antonio who threatening them. Unfortunately there will be other cases like these still to come. Its all about what we have become.

to get to the truth of what really happened the Zimmerman precedent is being used by the Obama/Holder Dept. of Just Us and Our People. A toll-free number has been established to call and report any known or suspected racial animosity that the baby had.
.. or a more recent revelation that these white victims were actually drug dealers and the killings were a result of deals gone bad. Did the baby refuse to hand over the drugs his mother sold?

We have to stop pretending her “black” perspective means anything at all in relation to a “white” perspective.
Yeah, let me know when it’s OK to be white again. It seems the only thing that matters these days is that blacks get what they want and are insulated against the consequences of their actions.
It’s a lot like the British press referring to Muslims as “Asians” because they commit so many atrocities.
There’s a lot of ugly stories out there, and I wonder if this teen’s heart will ever soften to comprehend the horrible act he committed.
Either they are treated as grownups (with similar perspectives to their “white” counterparts or they are simply child-like wards of the state. Pretending that “her perspective” could influence a jury is absurd...

that includes 13 year olds, up to 19 year olds. Big difference. A sensible media would stop saying “teen.”
I’m glad the evolutionarily incomplete life-form was found guilty. Will it be locked up for life or released after a few years by some liberal bleeding heart?
I have special contempt for the reptilian brain evolutionarily incomplete life forms that make excuses for this type of Ariolimax.
