Paul also explained that he had difficulty seeing any American interests in the Syrian conflict.
I cant see fighting to impose Sharia law in Syria, Paul said. I cant see sending my son to fight with Islamic rebels against Christians. I also cant see my son going to fight on the same side as al Qaeda.
Under Sharia law, Paul noted, Christians would be persecuted for blasphemy, citing a woman in Pakistan who was jailed for blasphemy after she drank from a cup shared by Muslim workers.
That is not something I want to send our boys and girls to die for, Paul added.

I know his goal is to establish a regional Islamic dictatorship, but isn’t the Muslim Brotherhood faction a rival of AQ ? It doesn’t help our side to get the facts random for a soundbite even if they are technically under the ‘rebel’ umbrella.

I didn’t read the rest of the article, does he suggest we fight for Assad?
To: theruleshavechanged
Yup - they ALL hate the west and would slit our throats as soon as look at us.
Let them have at it, then deal with the winner.
If the world cries about chemical weapons being used, tell them to call 1-800-UnitedNations. Let that great and wise governing body show their strength and leadership.
To: spudville
I did not either but I am taking the stand that we have no dog in this fight whatsoever. We shouldn’t be worrying at all about Syria.

Today, Boehner CONTINUES to protect Obama as 150+ Congressmen are DEMANDING he convene the House on this matter. But he has not. The corrupt GOP is the mirror image of the DNC, is it not?It used to be that there were quite a few minor differences between the GOP and the DNC.
Now there are almost no differences. Maybe on guns? .... and who knows when the GOP falls into line on that one, too.

With all due respect to your friends, I can’t imagine anyone wanting to enlist today. The military has become so wussified and the rules of engagement virtually guarantee you’ll be injured or killed.
I just can’t see it.

Sometimes the enemy of my enemy.... IS STILL MY ENEMY TOO. That would make a really good tagline.

In this case they are both my enemy...let them both reduce each others numbers. And I couldn't agree with that more. At the end of the day there isn't a dimes worth of difference between the two. Both will hate us regardless of what we do. Both will work against us if they are in power. Neither side can be trusted.

I didnt read the rest of the article, does he suggest we fight for Assad? He didn't say, that's why I was asking.
To: o2bfree
From now on lets avoid civil wars in the Middle East. Maybe we sit this one out? Works for me. I cannot see any good coming out of us intervening on either side.
To: spudville
“does he suggest we fight for Assad?”
No. He wants to stay out and let the Syrians sort it out.
