In a nationwide appeal sent moments ago via the Democratic National Committee, Gov. John Hickenlooper throws down hard against the upcoming recall elections of Senate President John Morse and Senator Angela Giron.
...
Expanding background checks to cover all gun sales prevents violent criminals from acquiring guns. That means safer communities while also respecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Coloradans.
These recall elections cost a small fortune and do nothing to improve democracy or representative government. They are intended to intimidate and punish a select number of Democratic legislators for daring to vote their conscience for daring to do the right thing to make their communities safer.

Electing a politician to vote his conscience. Right! When I vote for someone I want them to vote for the Constitution, not their f**king conscience.
Hick’s putting his plummeting approval ratings to use.
Colorado Ping ( Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list.)
Now those chickens are going home to roost.
“These recall elections cost a small fortune and do nothing to improve democracy or representative government. They are intended to intimidate and punish a select number of Democratic legislators for daring to vote their conscience for daring to do the right thing to make their communities safer”.
John, John, John, I might agree just a smidg on the first sentence, especially since at least in the case of Morse, he’s up for reelection anyway. You really have to agree that punishment is the right of the people when their rights have been trampled by democrats who wouldn’t know the right thing if it bit them in the rear. Conscience, since when? You and yours chose unwisely to stick it to your constituents, and now you are seeing what the price is for such nonsense. Good riddance to bad rubbish I say, and if they survive may they go down in the next election.
Early voting starts today in Pueblo. Beware of busses from Denver on Main street in Pueblo today!
Why aren't the citizens of Colorado trying to recall this IDIOT gov, too??
Another good reason for conservatives worth their salt to go vote the gun-grabbers out.
Bravo, but...
...modest restrictions on future sales of high capacity gun magazines...
Wrong. These are standard capacity magazines - the very magazines that come with many firearms. There is no evidence to support the notion that restricting magazine capacity will in any way make anyone safer. Common sense, crime statistics, and grade-school math tells us this makes no difference. Most shooting incidents involve only a few shots. So-called "mass shooting" events that involve dozens, even hundreds of rounds fired are rare. They are such a small percentage of firearms related deaths as to be insignificant. So a magazine capacity limit will have no impact on safety for three good reasons. One, there is no reason to believe criminals prepared to commit murder will be in any way dissuaded by breaking some other minor law regarding magazines. Two, if you get shot and wounded or killed, it will almost certainly be by one of only a few rounds fired during a robbery, home invasion, or random act of violence by bored youths. How many rounds they have to fire at you will be utterly unimportant. Three, in a mass shooting, the shooting is typically over within the first several minutes. In other words it is over long before law enforcement arrives on the scene to stop it. Even if the mass murderer obeys magazine capacity limits (see reason 1), all the limits have cost him/her are a few extra seconds for a few extra magazine changes. When shooting unarmed victims, that makes no difference whatsoever.
...and universal background checks.
This is a misnomer. No, it is an outright lie to call it this. It has nothing to do with universal background checks. When you say that, what most people think of is having to have a background check when you purchase a firearm - right? Guess what, Colorado already has that, has had it for years. If you are going to purchase a firearm from a licensed dealer, you need a background check. That is and has been the law of the land. Doesn't matter if the sale takes place at a store, gun show, or at a private residence. Licensed dealers must get a background check.
What this law does is infringe on normal behavior without impacting criminal behavior. If I want to lend a firearm to a friend to go hunting, take a firearms safety class, etc. if they are going to be in possession of my firearm for more than 72 hrs I have to get a background check on them. What? Right. Going on vacation for a week, going to have a friend watch your house while you're gone? I'm sorry, they are in-effect in possession of your firearms, you can't do that without a background check on them. etc. etc. It is criminalizing routine, normal behaviors. Will it actually stop criminals? HA! You really think the guy selling a firearm illegally is going to require a background check of his fellow gang member? Sure. Hey, I know, lets pass a law that says all drug sales, even private sales, have to have a prescription and be conducted at a licensed pharmacy! Think the meth and cocaine trade will move to the local Walgreens? Snort. It is exactly the same thing with this "universal" background check. Criminals will ignore it.
We were only able to pass the law because Democratic legislators had the courage to stand up to outside special interests...
Bull. Exactly the opposite. You bent over for the gun-grabbing lobby and interests on the coasts. Out of state money funded most of the ads and lobbying in favor of these stupid laws.
Expanding background checks to cover all gun sales prevents violent criminals from acquiring guns.
I'd like to know what fantasy world he is living in where he thinks criminal A selling a firearm to criminal B is going to get a background check. Maybe the drug dealers will start asking for prescriptions, and car thieves will start asking for CarFax reports and warranties too. ;-/
These recall elections cost a small fortune and do nothing to improve democracy or representative government.
Oh, actually they do. They help ensure our elected representatives remain faithful to their constituents, not big money from out east. When they don't, a recall is a great way to send a message - YOU'RE FIRED!
They are intended to intimidate and punish a select number of Democratic legislators for daring to vote their conscience for daring to do the right thing to make their communities safer.
Bull. You know, I know, and the gang banger down the street know these laws will have no effect on crime nor community safety. You have forgotten your job - you are an elected REPRESENTATIVE not a benevolent know-it-all ruler. You don't get to vote your conscience, you represent people, you vote based on their interests and the will of the people. The will of the people is now quite clearly that these people no-longer represent us.
Morse and Giron defense campaigns paid nearly $1 million to political consultants outside of Colorado and that figure doesnt include expenditures by other political committees.
Girons Pueblo United for Angela campaign raised nearly $586,188 in cash contributions through Aug. 22, and spent $575,668. But 78.2 percent $450,257 was paid to entities outside of Colorado.
A whole Lot of People for John Morse garnered $606,113 in cash contributions and spent $501,730. Of that sum, 75.6 percent $379,309 was paid to consultants in other states.
Julie Wells, now living in Kentucky, is the registered agent for Taxpayers for Responsible Democracy, We Can Do Better 527 committee, We Can Do Better IE (independent expenditure) committee and We Can Do Better Issue Committee.
These "representatives" voted the laws in and chickenlooper signed them. Not for the good of Colorado, but due to out of State money and politics. Chickenlooper is on his way out too and he knows it. He's auditioning for another part already, hoping for more out of state help.
I wasn't aware that Democrat legislators had consciences, I've seen no sign of that. But being the generous person I am, let's address this.
If voting your conscience means taking my freedom away, violating the constitution and making it more difficult for Coloradans to defend themselves, their families, their neighbors and their communities, I say screw your conscience, as your conscience is out of wack.

2nd Amendment bump for later........
Would be great if they’re flushed.
Usually in a situation like this the momentum is with the recall effort.
Of course the left is able to mobilize the SEIUs, MoveOns and illegals so nothing’s a given.
Then there’s the scumbag Bloomberg who gave $350,000 recently to help the Colorado gun-grabbers hang on to their offices.
Here in Maine last fall, Bloomberg gave $400,000 to “independent” U.S. Senate candidate Angus King, who replaced Olympia Snowe. King won, and he is more liberal than Snowe.
Thanks George
Hickenpoofter is next
Why did I think his name was Chickenpooper?? Maybe I saw it here on FR?
