As the war drums for Syria get louder, let this thread serve as a repository for news, background, Tweets, photos, video, on-the-ground reports, etc., as was done recently with Egypt.

Guess what. EVERY single image of the tunnels which were in a guardian story that I POSTED MYSELF are gone along with the same various images on other news sites, including cnn, that speaks to the tunnels under Damascus suburbs. SOME small snippets remain on a few videos, but all they show is the entrance to one tunnel.
THIS:

http://shoebat.com/2013/08/27/evidence-syrian-rebels-used-chemical-weapons-not-assad/

is the closest set of vids I can find now and all the stories under the tunnel headline have changed including the one I posted. The western press now only showing dead bodies in place of the images that showed the tunnels. This is quite amazing.
This development convinces me even more that assad did not do this. They are setting up rhe news stories to conform to what the regime is saying, and doing the same in Britain.

Good vids here.
Gotta rest now. BBL

Here’s why I don’t think this is a clear cut case for minding our own business: There’s “international law” stating that chemical weapons use is illegal. If Assad did do it, and gets away with it, then “international law” is void. We can debate the validity of such globalist garbage, but has things are, there really is not choice but to act in some way. It would have been nice is 0 hadn’t been playing so much golf and been engaged the last two years. We do need to find out who used them, but now that they’ve been used, the option to sit and watch is off the table. It sucks.

‘Desperate’ Assad could use chemical weapons in Syria, says Hillary Clinton
The United States is worried that an increasingly desperate Bashar al-Assad could resort to the use of chemical weapons in Syria, or lose control of them, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on Wednesday.

2:52PM GMT 05 Dec 2012
After a meeting of Nato foreign ministers at which the Western military alliance agreed to send Patriot anti-missile batteries to Syria’s neighbour, Turkey, Clinton said Washington had made clear to Syria that use of chemical weapons would be a “red line” for the United States.

“Our concerns are that an increasingly desperate Assad regime might turn to chemical weapons, or might lose control of them to one of the many groups that are now operating within Syria,” Clinton told a news conference.

“And so as part of the absolute unity that we all have on this issue we have sent an unmistakable message that this would cross a red line and those responsible would be held to account.”

Saying a political transition in Syria needed to start as soon as possible, Clinton said the United States would do what it could to support the Syrian opposition, now that a new opposition coalition has been formed.

Syrian President Assad Regarded As a ‘Reformer,’ Clinton Says
March 28, 2011

EXCERPT

Doing the round of Sunday television talk shows with Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Clinton told CBS’s Face the Nation that the U.S. would not enter the conflict in Syria as it has in Libya.

“No,” she said. “Each of these situations is unique.”

While saying the administration deplored the violence in Syria, she contrasted the situation to that of Libya.

“What’s been happening there [in Syria] the last few weeks is deeply concerning, but there’s a difference between calling out aircraft and indiscriminately strafing and bombing your own cities and then police actions, which, frankly, have exceeded the use of force that any of us would want to see.”

Clinton described Muammar Gaddafi as “someone who has behaved in a way that caused grave concern in the past 40-plus years in the Arab world, the African world, Europe, and the United States.”

CBS newsman Bob Schieffer, the interviewer, noted that the president’s father, Hafez Assad, had “killed 25,000 people at a lick” – a reference to the crushing of an Islamist revolt in the town of Hama in 1982 – and said the regime now was firing at civilians with live ammunition.

“Why is that different from Libya?” he asked.

“There’s a different leader in Syria now,” Clinton said. “Many of the members of Congress of both parties who have gone to Syria in recent months have said they believe he’s a reformer.”

The idea behind ObOZO’s, Britain and France’s foolish move..and why no one in Congress is standing against this.....they “believe” taking out Assad will break the bond between Iran and Syria.....fools because the MBS are waiting and prepared to take over Syria and then we’ll see Syria in the hands of the Brotherhood terrorists.

But his isn’t just about Assad....These are an Alawite people who will be killed if ASSAD loses...and so won’t Christians...the MBS will terrorize and kill them ASAP.

Britain proposes Syria resolution; Russia objects
Posted: Aug 28, 2013 10:41 AM CST Updated: Aug 28, 2013 12:17 PM CST
By ALEXANDRA OLSON and PETER JAMES SPIELMANN

UNITED NATIONS (AP) - The five permanent members of the U.N. Security Council failed to reach an agreement Wednesday on a British-proposed resolution that would authorize the use of military force against Syria.

The draft resolution - if it were to be put to a vote - would almost certainly be vetoed by Russia and China, which have blocked past attempts to sanction President Bashar Assad’s regime.

Britain put forth the proposal Wednesday as momentum seemed to be building among Western allies for a strike against Syria. U.S. officials, including Vice President Joe Biden, have charged that Assad’s government used deadly chemical weapons near Damascus last week.

The U.S. has not presented concrete proof, and U.N. inspectors currently in Syria to investigate alleged chemical attacks have not endorsed the allegations.

After the ambassadors met for a couple of hours at U.N. headquarters, the draft resolution was being sent back to their governments for consultations, according to a Western diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the discussions were private.

The diplomat said Russia reiterated its objections to international intervention in the Syrian crisis.

U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power and British Ambassador Mark Lyall Grant left the meeting without commenting to reporters.

Recent news of a chemical weapons attack in Syria smacks of desperation! The question comes down to who is most desperate right now, the Assad regime or the Muslim Brotherhood rebels? Consider that since June, Assad’s forces have been winning. According to a CBS News report from last month, victories for the rebels had become “increasingly rare” and that the Muslim Brotherhood-backed opposition fighters were sustaining “some of their heaviest losses” near Damascus.

From annihilation at home 30 years ago when they challenged the iron-fisted rule of Hafez al-Assad, the Brotherhood has recovered to become the dominant force of the exile opposition in the revolt against his son Bashar Assad
